I'm going to use the deruster and then take a view if it needs sealing.

I will do strima.
I'm hoping a derust will be sufficient and then fill it with fuel and a stabiliser.

Yes I have tried cheap coke on a single carb from an old bike I was rebuilding..... a T500 suzuke. I was quiet excited to see if an urban myth came true. It didnt, it made no difference at all. Maybe if I had used quality coke it would have had a better effect?

I saw a youtube of some guy in the states derusting a metric cruiser tank using apple cider vinegar and the inside was really manked up with rust and gunge.
The way it cleaned out the inside after 24 hours of soaking looked impressive. So I looked and the cost of cheap apple cider vinegar and it was still very expensive. Even at 5 a litre its a 19 litre tank.
Like a lot of people I'm biking on a budget

The coke thing works because of the Phosphoric acid in it, the issue is that because of all the bad publicity - remember the dissolving tooth ? I wouldn't be surprised if they have changed the formula.
Coke - just cheap stuff - has worked for me before with rusty nuts and bolts, they came out just needing a quick brush with a wire brush, but I left them in the coke for 48 hours, it was only surface rust and they were only mild steel.
