Car rear axles such as reliant robin and bedford rascal can be converted to take a chain drive.
At its simplest the casing is cut away to allow the chain to go through and then its a question of modifying the bearings in the axle to work without running in oil. ie fitting sealed for life bearings etc.
Obviously the crown wheel is ditched in favour of a rear sprocket.

If the chain runs are long you will need chain guides.

Consideration for gear ratios is essential.

alternatively if you can convert a chain drive bike engine to sahft drive by turning the engine 90 degrees and putting a shaft onto the gearbox sprocket shaft.

You still have to do maths for gear ratios and be careful it don't go backwards all the time.
