That's on cool custom. It was on the cafe racer series. Think it was built by a guy that specialises in building cool bikes from unlikely donor bikes

Blimey somebody actually managed to make a Virago look pretty neat. Nice job that.

Would you go as far as declaring that a turd can indeed be polished?

When you look at the 'before' pic - almost anything would be an improvement!

But yes, that's cool!

Nice job that Rob.

I never liked Viragos as even the 1100 seemed way too small and to me they looked very brash. Handlebars too narrow, too many chrome bits. Just one of those bikes that I didn't like at all.

Have known a few folk that have got on really well with them.

I always liked the Dragstar but not the Virago, and yet I think they used the same engine, I wonder why Yamaha made both...Someone, somewhere must like the Virago.

I think the Cafe racer is a great build but I like Rob's style better..not too sure about the seat though..

John.

The Virago was much earlier and was styled by none other than John Reed (though with a monoshock back end). It was later replaced by the more conventional Dragstar, which I think was styled by the same person responsible for the earlier XS650 'Custom' The styling is not to everyones taste and the 70/1100 can look quite garish today (the 535 tends to get stick for being the smallest bike in a category where size seems to matter). There was a long thread about this on the fb page a few weeks ago which stirred up all the old prejudices. They are reliable and cheap to run if you are on a budget ...and yes, I do like them........I've owned one for 14 years with no complaints.
