Well, that was interesting! Builder turns up with hoppo! Takes a look around what needs to be done! (I've told him this about half a dozen time over the last six months!!). Says his plasterer chappie is finishing off on anther job and he, or Trevor, another plasterer will be on site Tuesday until job done. Then he off loads another lot of plasterboard, fixing compound, and finishing plaster and then he and his hoppo fucks off!

Waiting for news from my lady friend after her son was involved in an accident, today, on the A43 in Northampton. He has been flown to Coventry as they are worried about his spine. Just hoping all is OK.......

Sorry to hear that, Mate! Let's hope, sending your friend all the best wishes for a speedy recovery. Let's hope they didn't use EwokandTuck Air Ambulance Services....

Heading off to Ypres Belgium ahead of this weekends Remembrance service, hopefully I will be in the vicinity of the Menin Gate at the 11th hour when they sound the last post.
Then at some point I’ll head over to Tyne Cot cemetery to visit the war grave of a fallen relative

He has badly smashed his pelvis, broken a vertebrae in his neck and has swollen nuts from a heamatoma in his groin possibly from a collision with the handlebars. He is being operated on this afternoon and hopefully things will look better tomorrow.

Went up to the hospital today and he was looking a lot better, colour back at least. Still very much out of it and wanting to sleep but less pain. They tried to stand him up today but he was too woozy. Things are looking up though, which is the main thing.

Plasterer has been and gone so that's the landing ceiling, bathroom ceiling, and third befroom ceiling done, plus the stairwall, landing wall and three walls in the third bedroom done. Plus all the floors! He was a messy worker even having laid down sheets! Just as well we are chucking the landing and stairway carpet! Just need to get the stair chappies in to measure up and install by end of November! That'll be next year then!....

Not long back from the Hospital and Daz is up and sat in a chair and now the morphine has been reduced, back to his chirpier self. It will be a good while yet before he will be back at work and now other problems are emerging. He can't lift his right arm up without help and his eye will only focus out of the corner. They are going t be looking at all that next week, so fingers crossed that it is only tissue damage or swellings pressing on nerves.......

Well done. I woke up to a hard frost, jumped on the bike and went to meet me club for a bacon buttie and a cuppa, then rode to the remembrance service/parade at Seaham (about 30miles east of us) to lay a wreath. Great turn out again down there, due to their fantastic 'Tommy' memorial next to the cenotaph.

I wasnít able to make it home early enough to attend the local Remembrance service as the coach was delayed because someone had been pulled over by the customs at Hull port for too may fags, then with various drop offs enroute getting caught out by road closures in the town centres we went to, I ended up getting home even too late to make even heading to the pub for a beer unrealistic

Should have used one of our indentured workers (slaves) to do the work as failure means no food that day......

My best mate is in the last throws of cancer! Not nice hearing the news from his wife. Just a matter of time now. Paliative care is all that can be administered. He lost 3 stone in six weeks. They now try to feed him but he seems to push it away at times and is living in a world of his own. Just doesn't know where he is. Thy seem to up the morphine. hopefully they will overdo it and let him go peacefully.

Sorry to hear that, my sons Father-in-law died of cancer a couple of years ago and it wasn't good.

I am not long back from visiting Darren and he is much chirpier now and is walking on crutches. We hope that he will be allowed home tomorrow and that should do him even more good.

Glad to hear that. Walking on crutches is a good sign.

Spoke to Mal last night (my mate's wife)and he was just lying on his back. eyes open like slits, and when they did open the pupils were wide. Apparently he seems to have stopped waving his arms around, and he can't swallow. Mal and Gemma (his daughter) think it's only a matter of days. They have ramped up his dose of morphine, and seem to have stopped feeding him, there is no drip attached. It maybe only a day or so, if that. I'm expecting that dreaded phone call today most likely.

And to add to the sombre mood, I'm feeling a lot maudlin today. I passed an ambulance parked next door to a mates house last night and thought to meself 'I hope that's nowt to do with Tentee (me pal)'. Not long after I got a call off another mate giving me the bad news. He'd dropped dead of a heart attack

To make matters worse, when I got another call, off another mate to see if I had anymore info, he told me that yet another mates wife had died the same day.

FFS, they're only in their 50's man!

Anyhow, RIP Tentee and Moira, I may well get wasted in your honour this evening.

Sorry to hear so much bad news for you mate! Age seems to play little part in when you are destined to go.......

Good news this end, Darren is coming out of hospital today and may well be heading down the M6/M1 as I type this.......
