Default How do I keep my bitsa legal?

Not sure if I should have put this on the Technical forum or here.....
Currently I have a 1979 GS750 chopped. All that is left of the GS is wheels, engine + carbs, lower forks, brakes - I don't think there is any of the original frame in the hardtail - and I have the bike registered and insured as a 79 GS with mods and it has its original 1979 registration number.
My question is... I wanna put a newer engine in, maybe a GSX or a Bandit, and I wonder if I can really still call the bike a GS then! How do you normally go about keeping a bitsa bike legally registered and insured?
Cheers,
2R

You can't call it a GS now, never mind if you change the engine or not. None of the original frame is there....

Really depends on what is says on your current V5

Mine just says Kawasaki and 900cc and "this vehicle is made of spare parts some or all of which were not new" so it is still correct if i swapped the gpz900r motor for a zx-9r and sent in the new engine number but if yours actually says Suzuki GS then looks like SVA time
