What do they go for these days? I remember seeing them around in the 60's what a investment that would have been

Some 20+ years ago I was on a British Motorcycle Owners Club (West Sussex) charity run and a bloke turned up on an original Vincent Black Prince.

In 1954-56 Phil Vincent saw that sales were falling off, so he created the Black Knight and the Black Prince because he considered that the older designs were the problem. These were totally enclosed versions of the Rapide and the Shadow.

A Black Shadow was worth about 20,000 in the late 1980's, the Black Prince was worth about 50% more because most of the people binned all the fibreglass to reveal the Shadow hiding underneath and a genuine one was hard to find.
A good, original Black Prince is rare, as ugly as sin and worth a lot of dosh.

The prices of Vincents are going up because.....?
Perhaps people appreciate real bikes? Alternatively it could easily be that they are being bought as an investment and that forces the price up, while the bike is going to sit in a garage accumulating money

dont think vincents are reaching brough prices, theyre not in the same league price wise. but i think that a vincent today is worth what a brough was worth 8 or 9 years ago.

theres a chap has a couple lockups at the end of my back garden, full of vincents amongst other brittish classics, rides them daily too. was talking to him as he was working on a bike, its like aladdins cave in there - this particular one he had bought 40 years ago in boxes and wasjust getting round to putting it together
