Default Lost a mate today.

On a day that is already a very sad day, one of the local Aberystwyth Branch members collapsed and died while marching on the parade this morning, Captain Nigel Dyer was a very important member of the Aberystwyth Branch and a very good friend of mine, R.I.P Nigel mate.

Kingo, Glyn, Friend. This must have been very hard for you.

But perhaps you can take comfort from the fact he died with his friends and comrades around him. We won’t all have that.

Lois sends her love and kisses.

Take care H

My deepest sympathies to you, Kingo.

Unfortunately, a lot of our loved ones are reaching an age that living day to day is becoming a gift, (as my Dad used to say). He passed away in August this year aged 88, but he maintained he had had a happy life on the whole, and wouldn't change a bit of it.

Hi, I hope it is ok to do this. I signed up to the forum just to reply to this thread. I just wanted you to know that there were people with him who did their best to provide him with some assistance and dignity before the ambulances arrived.

As we were marching past it was noticed that Nigel was in distress. Amongst our number were a couple of medical professionals and they were able to render immediate aid and speak to the ambulance control to ensure a quick response. The rest of us provided some privacy and space for them by forming a cordon to keep onlookers away. I believe there may have been a couple of other off duty emergency services personnel present also.

We stayed with him until he was taken to the ambulance and one of our number also travelled to the hospital to ensure they had all the information they needed to continue trying to save his life.

I don't really know why I'm writing this other than as a biker myself I know it can sometimes help to know that there were people there who cared even if they didn't know him. I would like to pass on my condolences to his family and friends and will raise a glass also.

Thanks & I hope I've not overstepped any marks with this post - I have kept it generic enough & not given out any information I shouldn't, I hope. If people feel it should be deleted I will not be offended!

P.

Hi there, no offence taken, and Nigel could not have had better help than he got, the two lines set up by the RNLI were very much appreciated, I was asked to go and sit somewhere by one of the policemen attending who just happend to be an old Kingo like myself, but I wanted to wait untill Nigel was in the ambulance before I went on to the church, thank you for your help in what was a tragic day. Regards Glyn.

Beyond okay. Other than the respect you and your colleagues deserve for your efforts, it's always very comforting for friends and family to know that their loved one was not alone and that nothing, but absolutely nothing, was left undone in an attempt to save him.

Default Thank you All!

It gives me and my mother great comfort knowing that Dad was surrounded by many friends and doing what he loved the most. Thank you to all those that were around him either taking care of him or shielding him. We will forever be grateful for your help and support. Regards, Anna and Janet Dyer.
