Default CB400/4 front end

Trying to remember which forks go straight into the yokes, seem to remember we fitted a superdream front end back in the late 70's.

Cant remember if we just fitted the wheel or the complete front end.

Anyone got any ideas...

Pretty sure I slotted a cb400n front end on my 550chop to get twin disks, very probable the 400/4 will be same at headstock if not the yokes.

Thats what I thought, I can acquire a superdream front end! The older forks are much harder to find... or 100 each.

yeah they getting scarce now well good uns are.

Just thinking on it you may find superdream forks a bit long so u may have to raise in the yokes so that bike sits level, but im sure its only an inch or so

also to make matters worse teh superdream wheel is 19" - so if you can graft in teh 18" 400/4 orig wheel would be better

19" wheel wont be a problem, its not like its going to get used as a sports bike.

my thinking is use teh 18" wheel and make teh front end shorter as only about 1" between yoke n handlebars - just makes thisng easier if poss

right you can use the 400/4 disc and it should match to the superdream caliper.

But the 400/4 disc is approx 3mm thicker than the superdream one so you may need to do a bit o filing n stuff.

I cant remember if the spindles are the same diameter, but somethings nagging at the back of my mind that the superdream one is smaller - no problem remover wheel bearings from 400/4 wheel and replace with superdream ones.

teh speedo unit use 400/4

only issue now is making spacers to fit - i just cant remember if they fit straight in or weather you will have to grind one to fit.

either way hope taht helps - sorry i cant be more specific its been a long time since ive mucked around with the old hondas
