Default British bikers..

Are British bikers the richest people on the planet..?

New bikes cost more per cc than new cars in this country..

twenty year old bikes cost five times more than twenty year old cars.

we spend a fortune on special clothing just to ride.

And when someone hits us, the general attitude is..

It's just an old bike, no biggie."

And the police think we are targets.

It's time we got some respect.

John.

Hey..I wear two pair of jeans and a thirty year old Apache armoured leather jacket..and boots and a hat thingy with a visor..and plastic stuff in the rain..

I wouldn't have to wear any of that in a car.

While on the subject of money..the last time I smoked cigarettes were 11 1/2d for 20 Rothmans king size..now they are 6s each..( for you youngsters 11 1/2d is under 5p and 6s is 30p)

It's bastard car drivers that use us for targets, to the Police we are simply moving income for them.

As for those that spend a massive amount on gear, well more fool them.
My very expensive jacket was a tenner at a boot sale, looks like it has never been worn, and as for trousers, me leather jeans cost me less than a tenner and we waterproofs a similar amount.
Thank god for peeps that buy expensive gear and then stop riding, I love a bargain me.

bike cost 300 off this forum and lasted 3 years and counting, still works, tyres were last got off a ebay project 14 the pair. jackett 100 10 years ago, trousers 10 off ebay, boots 40 ex army, 4 years old, helmet 99 4 years ago, gloves 5 off lidl 3 years ago likewise tankbag and waterproofs @12 and ebay provided last c&s set for 12. Fuel :- 20 - 30 a month against the same ammount a week for a neighbor with a diesel car with same job location or my wife who again has an 'economical' diesel car. Bike works out cheaper, oh yeah, insursance for myself, my wife, dad and 4 bikes comes in at 140 per year the lot so only our series 2 comes in cheaper to insure or tax (free for the landy, 18 I think for the bike)
