Angry 125cc Cruisers

Anyway... My other half is looking to take her CBT next month and may have some cash to buy her first bike...

She wants a cruiser like the dragstar 125 or Maruader/intruder or something similar. So we went for a trawl of the locall dealer and found one bike! Yes thats right, willing to pay cash and the only bike was a little marauder (top speed 55mph), well when I had one I loved it, but doing any distance was a pain and overtaking a no go!!!

I want her to be able to keep up with me, so being stuck at 55mph is just silly... Anyway the reason we couldn't find any alternative is because the EU emmisons regs make it too expensive to sell them here.... Barstewards!!!!

No entry level dragstars/vn/intruder/shadows...... To say I'm not a happy bunny is an understatement!!!

So can anyone recommend a dealer/manufacturer or source for a new/second hand 125 cruiser?

Mrs Grav had a 125 Intruder. It's great little bike, did 70 all day and was very good on fuel at around 70mpg. Have you had a shufty on ebay, Gothtec? There's a few on there.

Honda rebel 125, pulls 70 with adult sitting bolt upright and luggage. good economy, reliable and gets classic insurance. for my money they are a better bet than the jin lun/ hong dou clones from china even if the honda offering is 20 years older and covered 20 000 miles it's still more reliable than the chineese built clones that friends have had. So good I'm building another from the spares Ive collected but not had to use.

Shadow VT125's will cruise all day at 60-65, hit an indicated 75ish unless you're a big fat bastard and are great fun, change the oil regular and they'll go on for ever.
1500 will buy you a good low mileage 05ish on E Bay.

How about the opposite point of view..

Get her a little bike that she will be able to do the turns on without putting her feet down so that she passes the test first time, then after she has passed the test trade it in or sell it on and get something bigger.

John.

Not ebay... plenty on there, but not the best deals....

I want her to try out a few, sit on them etc... And let me look them over to see viability!

In that case, get yourselves down to your nearest bike meet and look around to see what's there. A lot of folks will let your good lady sit on their bike etc if they know you are interested in getting one.
