They did appear as a company to expand quickly and the owners seemed to get a little bit to into being TV stars rather then building bikes

It sounds like they withheld the mortgage payment to try and get the lender to give them a better deal, the lender responded with a legal "Fuck You, Pay Me!"

a bit of a different matter to not having the cash.

but then that is only the story in the news written by the same sort of people who can't tell Blue from Hells.

2 things I learned from the program.

1) you don't need a lathe to cut wheel spacers. a chop saw will do
2) the finish is in the filler and paint, not the metalwork
3) you don’t need a bender to make a set of pipes. Just lots of bends

the first couple of seasons were interesting (though I preferred the first seasons of Biker build-off)

But when the non-bike stories took up most of the filming it became a soap.

As soon as the network dropped the series their days are numbered.

Their European tour was a joke (and I did do the Ace Café to Brighton run with them).

Their time has come and gone.

In a last ditch attempt to wring the last drop of money out of the publicity they have had....

American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior is a reality television show, based on the original series American Chopper that premiered on the TLC channel on August 12, 2010. The show chronicles the rivalry between Orange County Choppers (OCC) owned by Paul Teutul, Sr. and his son Paul Teutul, Jr.'s newly opened motorcycle business Paul Jr. Designs (PJD).

New episodes start Monday, December 13, 2010.

they built a few nice bikes and lots of total crap inpracticl junk, series became a soap opera withh more time given to ski trips and crap then bikes. Also they started employing the other son who was a pillock (I'd not have been heppy I was getting value for money with that setup - in these economically poor time folk start to look for value)

I appreciated American Chopper and Bike Build Off for bringing many custom bike builders into our living rooms, giving us an insight into their influences, strengths and weaknesses etc. OCC was good in it's day, but you can only do the same format for a finite length of time before the bubble bursts.

Thats the trouble. People think they have it made and it will go on for ever, that they are "stars".
They do not understand that they are just a bit of stock to be used and once the shelf life is done they are dropped. The savvy ones know that and plan 2/3 years ahead with new ideas

Ab-so-Flippin-lutely. The article doesn't say that they can't pay, it says that they are trying to apply pressure to get their mortgage payments down. They might actually be justified in doing this. The lender resonded by implimenting the greatest sanction that they could use, i.e. trying to seize the property.

I don't think we have seen the last of the Teutels and their annoying antics yet. I think these guys have more business savvy than some of us give them credit for.

They are going to need a lot more 'business savvy' if they are ever going to sell one of their over-priced, over engineered abortions to me.

Well here's something to think about..

The over 18 population of the UK is about 50 million and the number of people insured to ride motorbikes is 1.3 million..so about 2.5% of the adult population of Britain ride motorbikes..

That's quite an audience for a few home grown shows about all things motorbike..

John

Default as a backwoodsman....

I get a bit fecked off with whats not on TV, I can't get sky due to devon being built (& not built) on hills,
& freeview is the 'try out' service for pay per view = they try it on freeview & if you like it we'll start charging...so I see very few bike programmes on TV, I do of course find them on the intraweb but there's a delay between transmission & seeing...

I'd love Ch4 to do more with the TT & other road races, motoGP, & 2, but as for the turtles, tuttles, teutuls...what they do is like reality tv...it might be their world, but it has fuck all to do with mine....

progs I wanna see:
Chop racing, home built chops racing a 35mile road circuit, say 4 laps & on one tank of gas...maybe a team m.c. = having to have an all stop if one member has a mechanical failure/need to piss/readjust the pillions' attitude/needs...

streetfighter racing; compulsory 3 wheelies per lap & points awarded for attitude

drunk racing: a pint & a fag (pref. spliff) on every lap & with a 5 min. conversation about how if the wind was in favour it's be possible to get yer lap times down...

I could go on....

I'd like to see a group of bikers doing a different ride out somewhere in Britain each week, a bit like a cooking program bit with road numbers instead of recipes so that if we liked the route we could copy it.

They could call it Great Britain by motorbike.

It would be enjoyable for bikers and tourists/holidaymakers alike.

John.
