Yeah, mine renewed the trike insurance without my say-so ... thankfully it'd gone down by over 170 so I wasn't too worried, but it is a bit rich of them to do so ...

Switch insurers, none I've ever had have tried that prank on me, I'd do a quick runner if they did

The post office doesn't either..

I always non-renew the policy in the last month anyway, so when I go back I'm a new customer with 5 different quotes in my hand!!!!

I use EGroup - 4 bikes on one certificate.

If you Tax online then you do not need to produce the paperwork.

Had a problem trying to tax the XJR, as it had to be changed over from NI V5 to mainland V5. If I had printed the certificate more carefully then I'm sure even that would not have been a problem

I take great delight in making my insurance company sweat for my business every year. Simply because I fucking hate insurance companies.

I asked one company for a quote for fully comp on my new chop. I nearly pished meself laughing when the guy came back and said "Got a really good quote for you, including....blah ..... blah"

Me: "Just stop there, NOT interested in any propoganda or sales pitch, how much"?

1398.75!!!!!

Called my trade insurance company, gave them all the bike details. They promised to call back with costs within the hour. 20 minutes later they called back. Fully comp, added to my trade policy FREE OF CHARGE!!!

Chopper.

Just changed my bike and wanted to change the policy over to the new one. My policy was around 230 fully comp with 6 months left to run.
My insurer wouldn't insure me with the bike parked on the drive so they said another would do and they wanted 370!!!! a year.
I said stuff that I'll cancel whats left to run and go elsewhere.
OK they say thats 25 cancellation fee and some silly amount for comission! which will leave ...................
22 to be repaid to me.
Just went on thebikeinsurer and the best quote was from MCE insuring me with my original company for 146 fully comp!!
It just doesn't make any sense at all.
Ooops that should have been 169.44 not 146. (just in case they are lurking)

I always pay for my insurance by cheque, or if they send me a form to pay at a paypoint with cash..they can only renew automatically if you pay by credit or debit card.

Shop around, leave plenty of time, pay cash or cheque, get a new quote from several companies each year because insurance companies do not give discounts for loyalty they only give discounts for new business..they actually increase prices each year if you stay with the same company..how crazy is that...

That sounds as if you have a serious case for the insurance ombudsman

Slightly off topic..

I just had a letter from More Than to renew the insurance for the mutt...

775.88!!

That is more than my 2 cars, 2 bikes and the home contents combined!

So, I scoured around and found Pets Friend Insurance For 220.00. At which point I went back to More than and obtained a new quote.. 440.00.

I then phoned them to cancel, as thiers was an auto renewal. The girl on the phone took one look at the policy agreed it was a ridiculous amount and cancelled it straight off. I am soooo glad she didn't embarrass herself by offering reduced price cover.

Thieving bastards the lot of them. Cancelled my van insurance 2 months early as I was getting rid of it. The fuckers (Budget) tried to charge me for cancelling AND insisited I paid up the remainder of the policy to which I told them to fuck off. 3 months down the line I get a nice letter form a DEBT collection company telling me to pay up or they'll send a doorstep collection agent round!
Better warm up the baseball bat then!

I've just been on the website for my now ex insurer and tried to find the complaints department. Guess what you just have the general 'contact us'
option. So I sent them an email and asked for their thoughts on the matter.
Not holding my breath though.

A lot of these companies are the same under different names, Sky ins is probably just an agency and probably for CN, go on the net and get several quotes, I would bet that you will find someone willing to offer you a cheaper quote.

Correct, that is why you find some companies will not quote against another, they will have been told not to quote against 'Suchabod Insurance' as they need to improve thier marketplace standing to improve thier share value.

Just like the banks - greedy cunts offering shit service.

Thats the one's........will be in my bad books too.
Had to get proof of no claims from them and while talking to the operator(?) I asked why they said my insurer wouldn't insure the new bike but I was offered the same insurer from elsewhere. All she said was agents get different schemes of insurance and theirs was probably able to cover me under a different scheme. It appears that if insurers give the same scheme to all brokers there would be ne choice or competition between the brokers. I rekon it is just a way not to lose out on comission by having to make reductions in it to be competative, but thats just me being cynical

So I got a quote from Bikesure six months ago, (which I didn't take up ,cos the trike wasn't finished). So I ring them this morning and give them the reference number to take the price quoted. (The trike's finally ready) No chance! They wanted 90 more, when my circumstances are exactly the same. Robbing bastards!

I tried to get a quote from Bennetts last week.

Multi bike insurance third party only

Honda shadow vt700 1986

and V-max 145bhp Grey import 1989
But they didn't have the vmax so I picked another Yamaha 1198cc bike.

Quote 79.68

Phoned them today they quoted over the phone for both my bikes..66.42

so I snatched their hand off.

Oh yeah.. and I told them to tick the no automatic renewal box...no problem.

It's all about new business.

John
