Default Insurance for chop ??

Has anyone got any recommendations?

I thought I could just add my chop onto the policy for my 'daily' TDM 850 - but they want an extra 130. Its only an old GS750 but they say its because it is 'modified'. Is this about normal? Its a hard-tail frame with off-the-shelf custom parts, the only GS bits are the engine and wheels.

Is there a company that specialises in chops? Or any companies that do chop and 'daily bike' on one policy?

Thanks.
2R.

i know a few lads who have some seriously modified chops and have them insured for exactly what they are... rather than saying its just a standard bike... still cheap aswell.
give these a try:

www.adrianflux.co.uk

they may require pictures of your bike to get a better understanding of what is modified

is your chop registered with the DVLA as a chop or just a bog standard GS750? - if it is the latter then it is modified and it may not be legal when the insurance needs to pay out. Any insurance company will use any excuse to get out of paying what they should

ebike online do 1 month policies which is how I do it

they offer drop down menus for modifications, hardtails, modified frames etc etc all totally declareable

I got my chop insured on a monthly policy, 18 per month

with about 9 of the mods selected on their website

easy to manage and sort your policy online, print documents if you need them

as long as you have told the insurance company ALL mods and submitted photos then they cant wriggle out.

Thanks for all the advice, guys. Found Carole Nash to be the best and cheapest - I was always lead to believe they're expensive!

I haven't registered with DVLA as chop but I'll be sure to tell insurance about every modification.

Thanks again for all replies.
