Angry Just been screwed over by Bennetts.

I cancelled the insurance on the bike I sold in December (the premium was due for renewal in April) They just sent me a bill for the balance of the insurance due which is MORE than the remaining premium I would have paid if I had kept the insurance up.

I suggested that I could have kept the insurance on after selling the bike but was told the database would have identified that the insurance was not valid and it would have cost me even more.

Just to add insult to injury they sent me a letter dated the 29th DEMANDING the money by the 5th Jan otherwise it would go out to their debt recovery department! I received the letter TODAY!

I will NEVER, EVER use Bennetts again.

They did a similar thing to me when I changed me bike.

Charged me a cancelation fee and threatened to revoke my cover overnight if I didn't pay.

F*+k 'em

Check the fine print on your policy, then go talk to the office of fair trading. Meanwhile throw a few fucks at Bennets, by telling them you are taking action.

You may well find that they cannot do what they have done. These big companies rely on people NOT doing thier homework.

Chopper.

You can take some comfort in the fact that you've undoubtedly lost them some trade on here.

Good luck with it mate.

Bennets got told to right royally fuck off a few years ago after they refused to re-insure my chop with no reason, they'd covered it for the previous three years though.

That is not true ....I would seek advice on this point.
Just sold my 65' bug and it wasnt worth stopping the insurance so kept it running with the knowledge of the insurence company.
Thieving lying gits !

Not having a pop at you or anyone else, but that attitude is what company's like Bennets rely on. You can do battle with these pricks and win and it doesn't have to cost you money.

Start by thinking and asking yourself "What is the weak link in thier armour"?

Believe me, no company can afford to have too many customers complaining. One happy customer might tell just one other potential customer. Just one pissed off customer will tell the whole fucking planet.

How far you take things is up to you. Why let them get away with fucking you over?

Chopper.

Funny old thing... I requested for a quote from bennets a few years back and I was given a figure, I can't remeber the actual amount, I said to the girl on the phone "Well that isn't going to happen is it, that is 80.00 more than the next quote" which, by the way, wasn't even the cheapest. She asked me to hang on then said they could price match. I replied that they should have come up with an honest quote at the outset rather than try to profiteer at the start gate.

But then again I don't suppose Bennets have the monopoly on this, but come on, to be able to drop 80.00 straight off the bat (nearly 50%!).

Make that three people - wankers did exactly the same thing to me when I sold my Guzzi 500 a couple of years back .

I phoned to inform them that I'd just sold it and to cancel the insurance , the woman I spoke to said , " That's fine - as you still have a couple of months left you will get a small refund " which I thought was good as I wasn't actually expecting to get anything at all . Next thing I get a bill for changing the policy to a short term insurance followed a day or two later by a threatening letter from their debt collection people for non payment .

They tried the same cobblers on me. I told them, politely, to take a big bucket of fuck off, and I'd see them in court.

Never heard another peep.

Silly thing is that ok theve got a few hundered quid off of me and the wife in the short term but long term, Well I'd recon that in lost custom I've cost them 500 in slagging them off to my mates who don't even ask for quotes cos theyve heard how we got shafted and it's gotta run into thousands over the years in direct lost bussiness from us not ever renewing with them. I wonder how they ever stay in bussiness...

Default bas*ards

got my renewal from bennetts for my gixxer1100, 80 frickin quid more than last year, even with an extra years ncb, and i only keep it insured for the ncb, only rode it to mot and back last year
same as you guys, gave them a large bowl of fukkoff
but they have to keep my ncb for a year in case i decide to renew
like that'll ever happen...
their reason .... due to the current economic climate there's been a 30 % increase across the board ( something not confirmed when i talked to carole nash and bikesure)
ergo....bennetts are a bunch of thieving w***ers

That is probably true for renewals Just renewed one of mine and it has gone from 195 to 224...But if you swap companies each year not only can you match your old price, but if you use it as a quote you can undercut it. They actually give discounts new business and penalise loyal customers.

Bennetts also told me there was no such thing as a multi bike policy, or a multi rider poicy - so how comes when I told em to fuck off I got a different lot to do both in one policy.

Ive recently joined bennetts from a 6 year multi bike policy stint with carole nash. Bennetts do a multi bike policy and I have euro rac breakdown thrown in. They do mointhly payments unlike carole nash and beat carole nash quote wise. That said I am a new customer so next year will see but I think nothing of shopping arouind. To me carole nash have got too big for there boots and forgotten the grass roots bikers there more interested in the hobbyists. And tell them you want unlimited milage they choke on there own phones lines as if people actually still use bikes all year. Thay started laughting when I told em I use me bike for shopping???
I would avoid ebike they have recently shafted a mate of mine unhelpful and genuinly not interested if you have a problem.

Ebike are actualy quite good, if an arse to use off-line...but every company has its detractors!

I rekon that insurance cost withgo up due to people who cant drive, trying to drive in snow!!!

I agree with what you say about Carol Nash having become crappy, That's why I left them. Beware Bennetts if you need to make ANY policy alterations or ammendments. I use Lynbrooks now, last year they allowed me to add another bike and another rider to my policy for the final 3 months and there was no charge for that - at all just a few pounds extra come renewal and as a side effect they altered the policy to save themselfs paperwork so now all 3 riders are covered by 1 policy for all 5 machines!

A mate renewed his insurance (previously with Bennetts) with another company. Only to find that Bennetts had taken the premium off his credit card anyway.

Another reason why I wouldn't touch Bennetts with a 20' greased bargepole.

I use Adrian Flux or Whittlesey nowadays. You get to haggle with a real person too......
