Default Its been a funny old year!

Well for me anyhoos
At the start of this year i was self employed, earning a decent living, and now im livinging on benifits (call me cynical but its not to bad, what with employment support allowance, and disabled living allowance, works out OK, n ive still to sort out the council tax...before the baliffs come and my morgage, though i have it covered, but not yet activated it)

The down side, i have acute heart failure, i have to lose another 3 stone (already lost nearly 4!) before i will be put on the transplant list, as a heart transplant is apparently the only cure (trying to get my head round the fact that someone has to die, inorder that i should live, is a big head fuck i can tell you....and then hoping its gonna be some young fit non smoking, non drug taking or drinking, selfish eh?) still a head fuck..
I also have to go to the warfarin clinic (yeah ratpoison!!) thats a joy fer me as i hate needles, as well as regular visits to the acute heart failure unit in glasgow....its fun (still sarcastic!)

And then i have hardly ridden the buell this year, it now needs the gearbox looked at...as fer the kawasaki n the honda well lets say i will get shot of them in the new year, this illness exhausts me, even walking up stairs to bed/bog is an effort....shit happens eh folks, guess this is the price i have to pay for all those years eating drinking partying n riding bikes, goin to rallies etc...I have no one to blame for this situation but myself...

So next year, god knows if im honest, i wanna ride my bike thats for sure, but hey we shall see.

I will keep popping in to see what you are all up to but, even doin this is an effort...which is strange in itself.

Take care guys, nils illlegitemi carbarundum.

Later
Ron

Life throws some serious challenges at us from time to time, Ron. You are one of those who will stubbornly refuse to be beaten by your illness and I hope 2010 is a better year for you than this year has been.

I would drink to your health but my poor health made me give the beer up.....

Beano has got it right, I signed my donor card, knowing that if I die, and they are able to harvest my bits and bobs, they will go to someone who needs them, I would be just as happy knowing that my heart has gone on to someone who's own heart is reaching its expiry date due to debauchery, lol. As I would for someone who has lived a pure boring life, and dont think they are dying in order for you to live. Thats just plain daft, its life.
aaaaaaaaand 4 stone is amazing, well done you.

First dibs on the boobies.......

To be serious though, sometimes what seems to be a knockback can lead to better things. It may not seem like it now, but how bad would your health have been struggling to keep a business afloat? We had massive redundancies last Christmas and most of us went on short time (21 and quarter hours) + I lost nearly 50 a week shift allowance. It worked out that after paying my mortgage I would have 30.00 a month to pay everything else. I got put on a section where I could no longer weld (probably because I caused a ruck about demoting welders) and on a job I hated. The upside is that after 8 weeks my foreman decided to early retire and I got his job. I am nearly on what I was welding with overtime and as of January we are back on full time.
At the outset, I thought I was fucked, but the end result is I am now earning more money for less work......... Result

I sincerely hope things work out well for you and that your health improves as well.......

I carry a donor card and the familly know I mean it, they all carry their's too.

If I sudenly don't need mine you're welcome to it. It's a goodun 4 months ago it was proppelling all 19 stone of me around a rugby pitch for 80 minutes.

I've got no intention of going just yet but when I do the more bits I can get rid of the easier it will be for the poor sods who have to carry me.

I assume all donors have a similar attitude.

Wish you all the best mate us invalids have to stick together.

Thanks for all the good wishes guys n gals..
Chazz, i have to go up to the clinic for them to take blood to decide how much warfarin i have to take, at the moment it alternates 7/8mgs until im back to the clinic on the 30th december...at the moment im on 11pills in the morning, 3 at lunchtime n 7/8 at teatime...its scarey i can swallow 11 pills in a oner easy!!

I had the cardiac nurse in today, apparently i will get councilling if the heart transplant occurs

I guess its all in the hands of the gods, except for the weightloss, which at this time of year is not gonna be easy, my plan is to maintain what ive achieved over the xmas/new year period, then back to the loss plan.

On a happier note, its my fiancee's birthday tomoz, so i will be having a busy time....On a side note, what a bloody job i had getting birthday specific wrapping paper for her birthday present!!!

Stay cool folks, again thanks for the good wishes, it helps.

Right, later days

Ron

PS for those that are interested, The Haggis Gathering bike Autojumble is on the 7th feb, 2010 at lanark auction mart.

Hell i know what its like to go from a good wage to sod all when i became a carer and as you say its amazing what you get used to.
As to all the rest,i give blood and ain't fussed where it ends up and carry a donor card.
Once i am dead its just spare parts, use or abuse.
Better anything that can be used is rather then going up in flames.

You can have any bits of me you want if it all goes pear shaped for me - I got a donor card when I was at school and my family know that. In fact my 9 year old saw a program the other day (kids hospital or something) and said he wants his organs to be used if anything happens to him.
