Default Freakshow bikes.

Ok here's the skinny..
I thought I'd start a thread for all of our past/present freakshow/mutant bikes.
Have you ever built a bike / trike that was just plain fucked up looking? Ever had an idea for something and just gone with it? Be it ugly as a motherfucker, or just a weird concept ..
Let's see your weirdo creations..

To start the ball rolling here's my 93 zeph zr550 based freak, El gato borracho (the drunk cat - a description of its handling perhaps?!?)
It features a chopped zr550 frame, zr550 motor, bolt on hardtail made from 1" 3mm wall CDS with 3/8" rear axle plates, USA c3 zephyr tank with fuel sight windows fitted, BSA fender stretched 13", gpx600 front end, modded yokes with 3" riser with 1.5" rake, 1" bars, Harley switchgear and twinned gpx600 rear wheels bolted together via the sprocket carriers.
Currently making the jackshaft for it.
Yes it's ugly, yes It's made from whatever junk I had to hand with the idea of building a freaky mutant.
It's been towed upto 45mph on my Mates industrial site n actually cornered ok.
still plenty to do on it, lotsa gusseting, triangulate the CDS frame etc

Ok who's up next with their bastardised projects?

Ha ha cheers Alfie.
It's a bit of a marmite project folks either love it or think its the fugliest waste of welding wire.

Keep us posted with pics..........

what sort of bearings are you going to use for the jackshaft ( not the old pollard types) I hope

The Brough superior originally used twin back wheels and they reckon it handled ok, there again did'nt Lawrence of Arabia get splattered on one?

I personally think it'll look bang on when finished

Good luck with it

Alfie

The plan for the jackshaft is to use an aluminium go kart axle carrier, that I've machined to accept 6202Z c3 hi-temp sealed bearings. Not the usual pillow block bearings, they're ugly as sin.
The carrier will need to be shortened n rewelded once I kno the exact length I need. The jackshaft, will be a 15mm machined shaft with 1 left hand and 1 right hand thread on opposing ends, a threaded circular plate will screw on each end.
The circular plates will be drilled n tapped to mount 17t sprockets, then the whole thing will be mounted in an adjustable fixing to allow chain adjustment.
I will post more as it goes along, or there's regular updates on my blogsite(in my sig)

Here's the general idea, but mine won't be fixed.

the zephyr mutant was coming on in strides. just been the weather been holding me back LOTS. sick of this pissing rain.
I've just gotta mount caliper brackets to hardtail, Few bits of bracketry for bits n bobs, Mount the jack shaft n fender and foot controls. Probably gonna redo the fender in Ali.
Here's a couple of pics.

Ha ha. I hear ya. I've actually took a few bends on it when we were moving it from my mates workshop. Towed upto bout 45-50mph n ditched the towrope.
Very similar to either a very wide darksider, ie: it can be leant over and the other tyre coming recontacting the ground is minimally noticeable abit like getting back on the flat profile after riding the wall on a darksider. , and kinda counter steer like a trike at low speed.
Built for shits n giggles n a bit of cruising.

martin from chopperclub wales did the two rear wheel chop years ago with an fj. think it was in bsh. it handled like an overladen tea trolley with three wheels , nearly killed him.he put a chair on the side before having to bite the bullet and turn it into a single(admittedly hee-uuuuge)back wheel

hes still got it now.....
