It will come under Civil court, same rules that apply to shoplifter etc...

First a banning, seconded atempt - held untill police arrive then a civil suit with costs and charges (minium 100).

A 16 year old cashier can sell age restricted items as long as a supervisor over the age of 18 is present.

My point being tho... how do they KNOW you're under or over 18? I got ID'd to buy a lottery ticket weekend before last, but if I've been at a rally I tend to leave my driving licence out of my purse in case I lose it, so how do I prove that I'm not a spotty teenager trying to buy alcohol underage?

The police are usualy pretty good at figuring that out, so when the police prosecute (the first times a banning from all stores) a civil suit is also brought to bare.

Seen it done many times...

Usualy you'll get a letter at time of arrest that notifies of any intentions.

Sometimes if ID is found then the police aren't even called, just a civil suit is brought.

So I could end up banned from all Asda stores just because i forget my driving licence? I can see me going back to my policy of boycotting Asda!

It wasn't so bad in the good old days, they agreed to keep a copy of my passport behind customer service so i didnt have to carry it round with me for everytime i wanted to buy a lottery ticket (I was over 16 when it was first brought in!), but it would seem they won't do that now.

You know all these ANTI aging creams? Can I have some PRO aging creams please? I only want to look over 21!

Funily enough it was Asda not policy I was using as an example... But most major supermarkets use the same proceedure.

And it is only if you commit or attemp to commit a criminal act on the premises or against the company.

You should be safe
