Crews tackle London market fire Camden Market fire

The flames are reportedly leaping up to 30ft in the air
A number of people are reportedly trapped in a serious blaze at London's famous Camden Market, according to the London Fire Brigade.

A spokesman confirmed it was a "major fire" and said eight fire engines were in attendance following a 999 call.

Firefighters were called to the market in Chalk Farm Road, north London, at about 7.10pm on Saturday.

Revellers from local pubs and bars have been moved away from the danger area.

It's the canal market not the main stables area.

looks like the Hawley Arms might be at risk now & the shop that was once the Caernarvon Castle

Funnily enough the land the market sits on has been for sale for a couple of years, but they've never been able to get planning permission for anything else, because of the market.....

Looks like the Hawley has gone too.

The bloke on sky news just described it as the loss of a centre of cultural importance. What? Just because Winebag, Doherty & Noel Gallagher drink there!! I always thought it was a bit of a dive. There are far more important pubs that Camden could lose. At least the Caernarvon had already closed down.

Well, it was of benefit to the customers of other pubs to keep them in one place. Now these so called celebrities will have to find somewhere else to drink with their entourages and any new venue for them will drive out the "ordinary" regulars with special arrangements and increased prices.

well i loved the market, decent clobber at strangely affordable prices and well good for a sunday trundle for just staring at the beautiful and exotic people.

I hope no one was hurt.

Haven't heard of anyone injured or killed, so lucky. if it had been 12:20 not 19:20, who knows how many injured there would have been.

that happens round here a lot,big mills sit empty in villages, the owners cant get planning permission,so thay get vandalised and distroyed till everyone complains of the eyesore, the council then beg them to redevelope it
