Strange how 100% have omitted to pay any kind of tribute to Gerry. Thought there might have been something in the issue following the tragedy, same as you did Blue, which was heartwarming by the way.

Ive bitten my tongue so hard trying to resist this thread.... sadly, Im only a weak woman.... Sorry Stu....

I put all this down to the fact that men mature so much more slowly than women.... eh Blue?

During my time at 100% Blue and I had many a 'verbal sparring' sometimes I came out on top, more often she did, but through it all we actually developed a great respect and admiration for each other. Hard work and professionalism always win through ... We both knew how hard the other worked and respected that.( Often cursing each other as well)
We enjoyed many a brew togther at rallies and now I value her friendship highly.

But, although there should always be healthy competitiveness, to not report on a major customshow in a custom bike mag that hopes to compete seriously in the same marketplace is purile and childish beyond belief. its always possible for a reasonably competent photographer to take pics without logos. If you choose to try....

This post will make me unpopular at Jazz.... (but hey whats new eh stuart... since when did I let that stop me... )
This forum is for opinions, and everyone should be allowed to voice them.... even me...

My advice is to sit back and put your feet up with a nice hot cup of your favourite tea and try to forget it ever happened......

Hello Pat. I've never had the pleasure of meeting you but may I say, that you seemed to do a damn fine job as Ed and had/have a great deal of respect.

Now shall we discuss the terms of your return to 'the' seat

It's got to be said that doing the job these people do they are going to only please some of the people some of the time.

I would have expected more from a professional write up than was offered but that is what we got. The people who ultimately suffer will be Jazz if the sales drop due to poor journalism.

As for Niks outburst let's be honest if any of you were in the pub with your mates the comment would have completely gone over your heads. We're supposed to be ruff, tuff bikers and a bit of swearing gets feathers ruffled? come on people.

It has to be said though, and it is indeed fact, that for as long as I have been on this forum at least, there has never been any slagging off needed to done to Blue, so whilst the point is taken that they cant please everyone all of the time, Blue obviously has a more diplomatic and professional approach.

So whilst it may be a difficult job, and yes we are all bikers who are known to eff and blind occasionally, Nik does seem to piss people off quite a lot and I think he is biased in a lot of his views, which are coming over in the mag.

I am biased because I can be, and I quite openly admit to being 100% biased toward red and white and that is why I fully agree that the Bull Dog Bash should have been afforded the same amount editorial space as the R & B. After all, not everyone buys both mags do they? I used to but only buy BSH now, so I have walked with my feet.

That's the point CherryB we can vote with the money in our pocket and it will be Jazz that ultimately cops the backlash.

Blue can be quite caustic too when she has a mind to be and i have been put in my place before by her.

That doesn't mean that people are not entitled to their opinions and we at least should respect them as others opinions

Yes I think in conclusion it was a poor write up, and not to feature any of the bikes in the custom show was churlish, as this was a major attraction for most bikers attending. I also think a line to acknowledge Gerry's contribution to the event would have been merited, regardless of any affiliations, as even many of us who are completely independent think it was a shocking and cowardly attack on a member of the biking community.

However lets see if Nik wishes to respond on his return from Italy. I personally still enjoy the mag, and it will take more than one article to dissuade me from buying it.

Ok Ive seen it now, and I did enjoy the write up in question, nice to have a different slant on it, refreshing change that. A line for Gerry would not have gone a miss though. I enjoyed the write up on the Southern Comfort Max meet, and my boys in the readers pics pages, so all in all a good mag.

Excellent. That proves none of us in the trade need go to events anymore because we can do the write ups from home and people will still enjoy them. Cheers, I may get to see my home more than one weekend in twenty!

Notwithstanding that he's totally and utterly detached from the crowd who buy and read the mag, who, if they read it at all before they had to as a job requirement, refer to it as 100% Biker, or if shortening it, just 100%. Never heard it referred to as 'biker', except by a bloke who aint interested in it, nor it's readership, or the style of bikes it used to be known for, before it became a failed Streetfighter editor's second choice of job. It's like a new editor of Easyrider talking about 'Davidsons'.
And who's interest in this forum, the grass roots hotbed of feedback to the mag, runs to 2000 posts, obviously a busy guy, but Visordown, which bears no relation whatsoever to 100% or what it's about, gets an impressive 12,300 odd posts. draw your own conclusions as to where our esteemed figurehead's priorities lie.

There seems to be a distinct rise in the amount of streetfighter type bikes (not that I can't appreciate them) and classic lookalikes.

It's definitely strayed away from grass roots customizing. Though the trend towards Harley based customs has become the norm because of the higher number of Harleys around but there are still plenty of other marques being customised.
