They have the legal power to enforce this (Statute) law.

They have the right, they chose not to as it is supposed to be under the control of the local authority.

I stand corrected.

However, according to this webpage here -

http://www.smokefreeengland.co.uk/fa...rcement.html#2

the police involvment should only be involved if there is a public order issue.

So why they were going round taking part in the enfocement of putting up signs on ChopperFXR's industrial estate is a mystery, and hardly effective use of police time.

i'd complain to the Chief Cuntstable about harrassment If I was you, chopper.

Mind you I expect the "Fighting Fifth", our local patrol of thugs in uniform, won't hesitate to get the old CS gas out if they catch you chuffing on a small fag in a bus shelter...

A friend of mine aged 60 who is a bit eccentric insists on riding his Harley in shorts and flip flops when the weather is hot.
He knows full well the risk he is taking but figures that it's his life and he is entitled to remove his own skin on tarmac if he so chooses.
Despite wearing a fully legal helmet which is all the law requires he has been stopped on countless occasions and given health and safety lectures by the police wasting his and their time.
Granted a man in shorts and flip flops on the M25 on a harley is an arresting site but nonetheless he is a law abiding citizen.
The last time he protested and asked how exactly he was breaking the law the young police officer in her 20's told him he had no respect for authority hahahahahahahahaha
I didn't know you could be stopped and questioned on health and safety issues now even though you are not breaking the law

Have to admire the guy for having the balls to do just what he wants to do. Thats why we fought two world wars. So that people had freedom of choice to do whatever. The guy was wearing a helmet so he wasn't breaking the law.

Have to agree with Mikesmad about the rest though. Rding a bike without at least some jeans and a jacket is pushing your luck. I have had skin grafts and they really hurt. (Race car blew up). Even at walking speed in a car park if you hit the tarmac you are going to get some serious road rash. None of us mean to have a spill, but **** does all too often happen.

Chopper.

Our friend, of which she speaks, is definitely the most decent bloke on this planet... as Mrs R says, madder than a box of stoats. This is the same chap as tried to have Tony Bliar arrested on Treason charges, which only got thrown out of court because the judge had had five of those that week, so he was declared to have been vexatious (as in legally taking the pîss! )

And the way he rides that Glide of his, I've never seen so many sparks flying from someone's exhaust pipes as they scrape along the tarmac!
