Not that Im sticking up for the judges, but unless thay have a ridden & a trailered section how they supposed to know? yeah I know check the bottom of the engine, tyres etc etc, but aint it the fault of the people entering their bikes? I mean have the judges got enough time to work out the ridden from un-ridden?
Remember at a rally a couple of years ago that was ''Ride in only'' there where a few vans in the layby up the road from the site.
I also cant stand the ''Trophy hunters'' just turn up for the show then they're gone, never camp at an event, never see them on the friday, just turn up for the bike show then off home

Years ago when i ran the custom show at Stormin for a couple of years.
There had been lots of moans in past years about " Viragos with saddle bags " being allowed in.
So i decieded i was going to vet every bike that turned up at the show gate.
My first question was " What have you done with the bike mate"
It pissed some people off being turned away but i didn't care, might have been a few less bikes but those in the show were customs in some way and were ridden in.
Ok there was rumours that once the word was out what i was doing of vans leaving the site and bikes being unloaded at the main road and ridden in,but how can you stop that.
Trouble is that most customs now seem to be rolling adverts for bike builders not real bikes with riding in mind.
Back street builders on a budget get over looked.

this work of art (i cannot call it a motorcycle) is gonna clean up in the euro shows this year.

dead radical and quite original, beautifully built, but more unrideable than their chop from last year

built by C.E.M.A. in spain

i seem to remember that for the kent custom show, the H.A. had spotters out watching for bikes being unloaded, then ridden the last mile.

Ooh now isn't that smashing, a real work of art.
Which is why it belongs in the Tate f˙cking gallery alongside the cut in half cows and other wastes of space.

Some years ago I went to the Guggenhiem in Bilbao cos they had an exhibtion of motrbikes as art, 95% were runners and could have been riden away AFAIK, isnt life weird. Do you think they should have told the guys who rode them there to fuck off?

looks like the one that french bloke did last year, apart from the tank.
he doesn't seem to have much concept of steering geometry, does he.
looks like the trail is about minus 6 inches.

i am now thinking of entering my chop into shows as its the first time i had had something that i want to show..........if there is'nt a show, then the bike gets parked by my tent and if anybody wants to look, then be my guest, as i will be at the bar having a brew, but i have always been on the asumption that if it is'nt ridden in, then it is'nt shown.......o how wrong....

theres some beutiful machines out there, but there is also some really ugly bug bikes that someone has spent a fookin fortune on and its about as pratical as a ashtray on a motorbike....

Saw that show in Vegas 4 odd years ago. There was some very very nice (and obviously used) stuff there.Well worth the entrance fee.
Going off tangent a bit, about 18 years ago my bike lost the rat prize (and she deserved it,totally horrible at the time ) to a fairly tidy Bonnie. When I asked why the Triumph won I was told "cos of the amount of oil leaks",I replied "It's a Brit bike,it's SUPPOSED to do that!" Cue laughter from everyone around........

[Rant mode On]

Its quite simple, its the judges, if they stopped awarding prizes to the Big money never ridden barges, and the difference is very apparent, then they wouldnt be built.

But the problem is our culture is no longer ours, since the OCC biker build off on telly craze, every well off motherfukcer wants a billet barge like the Teutel's build. The Magazines keep featuring the pieces of crap, (because they need to cater for the wider market) and the shows want the big name builders to attract mr amd mrs Chav / or wannabe biker bank manager thick as sh1t with no lifestyle's of their own.

So like I said its no longer our lifestyle as the mags / show organisers have all sold out, so stop fukcing bleating and put up with it. Because until the Clubs that run the shows tell the judges to judge bikes not art, and also (advise mags) thats the way it should be then fukc all will change.

No Nonsense do build the best rideable creations by far, but others forget bikes are to be ridden.

S'funny how Taff said a while back that the fat tyres are going in favour of skinny wheels, so maybe he's right look at that white thing, no fucking 360 on that huh.

Mebbe pre-prize giving, each potential winner gotta pick up a confirmation of rideability slip, from 15/20 miles away, on the bike in question. No go, no prize.

Think the Bulldog already has a 'bikes must be runners' rule doesnt it?

Guess the Club behind the Bulldog would have nothing better to do than stand 15 miles from the gate to tick off show entrants.
