Question 1 inch switch Gear

does any1 know what bikes, apart from harley's use 1 inch bars, i need to upgrade the bars on my trike, from 7/8s to 1 inch, due to the 7/8 bars flexing to much , getting the bars is easy enough, but don't really want use harley switch gear, is there an alternative i could use ?

Older Brits were often 1", but if you're changing the bars, why not just make new ones with the ends stepped down to 7/8"?
These are the bars for my Reliant trike.
They're bent from the same 1" bore, (1 3/8" outside diameter), ERW tube as the main frame, with 7/8" ends to accept Jap switchgear. Mine are actually new machined end sections that fit 3" up into the bigger bar & are drilled & button welded in place, but you could cut up an old pair of 7/8" bars & use those.

While we're at it....

Your existing bars are probably pretty thin wall tube.

Making another set out of 7/8" OD 1/8" wall would probably make them what is colloquially refered to as "a ****load stiffer...".

Which kind of saves having to get bars AND switchgear.....

It's a thought.

thanks for the info, other reason i want 1nch bars or bigger, is the fact the bars ive got on at the moment look crap, they just look weedy, so need em to look a bit beefier as well as be stronger. does it ever stop, once you've built a bike or trike it always seems like theres something to change, or make a little better !

While we're at bending tubes/bars. What is the easiest way to bend some tube if you haven't a tool or machine to do it.

I have one section of tube I need bending about 50 degrees.

I have some tools, including a very chunky (and I mean 50's metal working chunky) jack, but no vice and no torch.

Stick it an envelope and send it via royal mail to yourself marking the package do not bend
