That reminds me of the flat track style that they tried years ago.
Might just because the colours look the same.
Quite like it,wish i still had my HD.

Certainly a lot better looking than the unfaired bikes the Japs are producing now.Not really a Harley fan but I do like that.

I stand corrected Mr Grav..

this off the MCN site.

Harley Davidson has unveiled a totally new prototype at todays Cologne Show to spark a reaction from the meida and public alike.
Influenced strongly by the flat tracker scene Harley Davidson are notiorious for dominating, the XR1200 is powered by the European spec 1200 V-twin motor pounding out a claimed 85-90bhp.

Based on the legendary XR750 Dirt Tracker, this prototype is the result of another close collaboration between Harley's Milwaukee-based development team and Harley Davidson's Product Planning Europe team that recently brought us the Night Rod Special.
The prototype boasts an impressive electronically controlled active air intake system, powerful Nissin brakes, specially crafted Showa forks and a purpose seat height to fit the average European customer.
For more information on the XR1200 prototype checkout the full story in MCN's October 11 issue.

It is, aar, but at least they've given at a nod at performance as well.
The last XR was a repainted sportster, only an 883, with just the colour scheme paying homage to the old flat trackers, this ones got, if produced for commercial sales, has got a 1200 engine, upside down forks, and twin four pot nissins.
Not my style either, but i do kinda like what they've done.
And it's a far more serious effort.

The last attempt;.......The original XLCR;......The new attempt;

flicking through the tv channels last night and on the biography channel of all places was a documentary about harley davidson from it's humble beginnings in a basement through the AMF debacle right up to the present, worth keeping an eye out for.

If harley had made that in 2004 it would have saved me a lot of work!!! thats sort of what Im trying to get to with my Sporty but time and money are a bit short for doing all the mods.

Firms like Storz have been doing flat track Harleys/XR750 replicas for years. Surprised the Motor Company has taken so long to get in there, although there was that 883 it did a couple of years back with the horrible wheels.

Wonder how it will affect Buell sales...

i've seen hd have quoted 85-90 bhp for this - so what is it going to have to rev to for that sort of power - how long will it last? My xl1200s was more or less shagged by 18k

Default Posted this elsewhere..but..

See till i saw the original pics to the thread when i thought of harleys i thought massey ferguson.
i reckon the harley fans will hate it, may give the company a little more credability amongst the rest of the biking community. unfortunatley (en masse) a lot of people seem to buy harleys for the name and the fact that lamen folk see one in the street and get all unessersary saying stuff like 'Ooh tom cruise got one of those' and other such bollox. Publicity is good i spose but when i went to a harley do up newcastle a few years back the HOG lot fitted this group perfectly, most of em where Solicitors and Doctors who seemed to have a phobia about lifting their hands or nodding to anyone other than other HOG members,
I would'nt mind bettin them fuckers would'nt have one of these.

Now me,, i like it but i bet my right scrotum its well over 7 grand to buy.
So whos gonna buy then? what pigeon hole to society would buy this bike?

Me with a lottery win ain't going to make this sell in droves.
But i really would like to see this bike do well.
