Question BMF cover up ??????

I've just been sent this intersepted email
I'd like to know how close to the truth it is

I do not consider passing opinions based on facts onto fellow BMF members as campaigning of the negative variety. In fact just the opposite, it is campaigning for a better run, more transparent, more accountable organisation. Surely positive aspirations.

Fact: The BMF had over £750k in the bank in 2003 and was making profit.

Fact: The BMF bought new Head Quarters and had over £250k in the bank and was financially stable.

Fact: Mike Williamson admitted he did not have his finger on the pulse and spending went out of control (MCR)

Fact: Sharon Nash and Iain Parry got rid of the entire show team (and all that expertise) with no idea as to who would replace them.

Fact: The BMF spent £61,500 on two redundancies in 2005.

Fact: The 2005 AGM in Northern Ireland went over budget by a whacking 100%

Fact: The BMF had to 'hold off paying bills' in December 2005 as it had no cash left.

Fact: There has not been one BMF Financial report given to any of the BMF's 10 regional ARM's or the AGM of the National and One Make clubs in 2006.

Fact: BMF councillors have asked time and time again for information on the annual spending of over £1,000,000 by BMF (Promotions) Ltd and no details have ever been published.

Fact: Yes I have been campaigning for a more accountable, more open, better run organisation.

I have been attempting, for over two years, to raise awareness of the steady decline in the BMF's finances and it is my opinion, based on the above facts, that the 'Sharon Nash Dynasty' has done a great deal of harm to our organisation and must be stopped before it is too late. I have opinions and I have stated facts. Please feel free to reply and tell me I have got them wrong.

Time is short and niceties have to go out the window if the BMF is to be saved. It seems to me that your web site would have been an ideal platform to keep BMF members informed as to what has been happening during the past four years. How can members make informed decisions at our AGM if they have not been 'informed'. I believe the term is 'mushroom treatment'. As Sharon said to MCN " Why should our members know!" and Anna Zee said "We are not secretive. We are just selective as to what we tell our members". Enough said!!!

With regard to Ken, I have known him for over 40 years and followed his ups and downs. He has done more than his fair share of spreading rumours, especially prior to last years AGM, but that is just the way Ken is. Ken and I both know where we stand and I would be most surprised if he took the slightest bit of notice of anything I say, unless he wished to use it for political reasons.

On the issue of reports I thought it stated in the BMF constitution that minutes of all BMF meetings shall be available to BMF members. If this is correct then how can minutes from MT 'belong to them'. Surely they belong to us and as such I can see no reason why your web site can't have a link to MT or Council minutes. If a member wishes to attend any BMF meeting then he or she can. As far as I know only Sharon Nash has refused outright to let members see even as much as one page of BMF (Promotions) Ltd minutes.

Staying out of controversy, sitting on the fence, saying and doing nothing is the easy option.

Look at the big picture and convince me with facts that I am wrong.

Interesting reading eh ??????

its not the first time ive seen this - i used to do bmf security as radio controller for the show here in peterboro from 84 - until the show team was sacked - and with them walked a lot of the security teams and marshals.

also u forgot to add the committee are trying to get rid of the memba rally !!!!!!! so they can have 2 1 day shows

this is why the memba rally ticket allocation is slowly being reduced year on year.

You obviously didn't read MCN a while back...*? There was a big front page exposť of the BMF's goings on.

*saw it in ASDA... thought 'ha ha' and bought it!

Right. So they are not in 'crisis' they are in 'turmoil'.

Have we no BMF reps on here?

Glad for MAG

And again i say i well join neither (Mag or BMF, have been a member in the past) until they get their bloody heads together and fight the goverment as one big organisation with a huge amount more clout.
I really cant see the point of having Mag, BMF, TRF (trail riders) so on so forth. They dont get a great deal done as small individuals but if you put them all together under one big organisation without the pissing contests about who's best and who suits who most im sure more could be achieved.
Thats my humble opinion anyway. And yes, they all should be held accountable by their members and non members (They aint the KGB for fucks sake) as non member could be a prospective members.
Rob (the fella waiting to join when i see summat i agree with).
Mmmmmm! could be worrying what a united federation would call itself though British United Motorcycling Federation & Action Group.
Wouldnt sell many badges or stickers with BUMFAG on would ya!?!?!?!

I've always been drawn to MAG over BMF as they APPEAR TO ME to be more active but that may just be down to the events and social gatherings. We need to be fairly represented politically and I think either or both BMF / MAG are doing a better job than not having either.

It's like having a vote really. I'm never really convinced how much of a difference I make personally but if everyone had that attitude and didnt bother, then we'd be stuffed.

Can't stand the BMF - tore up my full member card years ago and sent it to the chairman.

But at least they sometimes try to do something. Easy to sit on the sidelines and snipe, until there's nothing left to snipe at.

My Triumph knocks out about 85 to 90 bhp and my TTR250 about 30bhp. Wpuldnt matter a **** to me.
On a serious note though. Triumph were just as responsible as anyone for pissing off the 100bhp limit. Most bike manufacturers had sort of given into the idea so Triumph knocked out (against advice etc) the 1200 Daytona with 147bhp. I stick with buying Triumphs then as its doing my bit against the EU

Unfortunately Mitch, the very fact that those comments still arise I think shows just how much damage (as well as good) Liversage did.

So,apart from me,are there any other BMF members on here?BTW I've been a MAG member for 20 years as well,I believe in the "belt and braces" approach.Having two riders rights organisations may seem excessive, but rightly or wrongly neither will appeal to all bikers. They need our support and if you're a member of neither don't winge to me when the government ban bikes.......

I am a member of both.Been in the BMF 20 years now, just renewed my subs, but that will be the last time unless they can get thier **** together this next year.I realise that they do a lot of good work, political stuff etc,but £27 quid for us to get six magazines a year is not what I call value for money. They seem to have become an organisation full of comittees etc that just appear to be out of touch with what is going on but going though masses of money. The club I belong to is affiliated so they will still get a bit from me if I don't rejoin next year.
As for MAG at least I personally get something back with the discounts you get at Farmyard etc as well as contributing to the ongoing fight for our rights.
