Rust in this country doesn't work.. It goes really orange and then flakey. It goes a lovely dull brown and polished abroad in hot climes.

What a piece of sh1t, has someone abandoned it , They should push it back in the ditch. Don't rate that at all, Mag worthy , I don't think so. While I to love rats, this is just neglect.

Don't be fooled, a lot of that neglect and crap is bolt on, someone has spent a lot of love and time to get it to look like that. Look at the filigree work on both sides of the mudguard, and there is no way that tank could happen by accident without spilling more petrol than it used, and where's the usual old bike oil leak. bet it runs like a wet dream! Well i was just gonna finish reading all the posts and say what you've just said John.
This is the inevitable backlash against the big buck jobs now that bubble's about to burst. That's been done by a bike builder, at not inconsiderable expense i'd imagine.
It's Rat Chic, a fashion thing.
The harley equivalent of pre-distressed, patched, Armani jeans, at half as much again to buy as regular ones.
It's a bag of shyte.

It ain't even able to live up to the ridden not hidden bleat.
When did alumininum nose cone casings start to rust?
Or zorst wrap bandage, it don't.
It musta been harder to de-chrome all that metalwork, then spray it with House of Color Rust You Like 2-pak than to keep the fuckin' thing rolling.

And the tin-work welded to the frame, air filter, kickstart etc?
Evolved did it, thru years of use?
No more than hoover pipes, gas masks, and silly fuckin' spikey haired gonks do on a 10yr old mid range yam.
Musta been a tebble, awful accident it was involved in to damage the tank, oil tank, frame and everything else in such a neat, ordered fashion.
It's a waste of a cool old shovel, and so contrived it's sickly.
I'd like UT Ratmeister's take on the rat as a chic, big bucks, fashion item.
He waint be happy.........

Ah.Now I've seen close-ups I retract my previous statement.Nothing wrong with a bike that looks hingin' cos the owner's spent his money on making it go and go very well, but that is much too contrived.

Well I like it..........lots!
How many hours does he have to waste cleaning his bike?............none!
That seems to me to be a 'get on and ride' kinda beast.
I aint up on this 'shiny harley' deal, and I think that bike is the mutts!
Granted I know nowt about engines etc, and I can appreciate why Harley lovers will be upset at the 'state' of this machine, but I bet the guy who owns that loves it to bits. Bet he takes pride in every mile, and at the end of the day, thats what its all about.

I have been told Harleys hold thier value. Dont suppose its the case here eh? But then I dont suppose this guy gives a shyte about that. If she was mine, selling her, or what she was worth, would be the least of my worries.

Sorry guys, but I think its the mutts danglies!!!

Well he certainly got you fooled.
I'd bet a pound to a lump of shyte that the guy who owns this bike handed it over to a bike shop as a half decent bike, went back couple months later, and picked it up like this, as if it can tell tales of eighty thousand hard miles it hasn't done.

i think its bloody awful and i agree with taff but it begs the question why

my trikes and bikes are rats due to pound land black paint and not alot of money to fix but there safe but not pretty
does it mean these days every bike not totally standard is a partial rat
trikes got hair spray bottles for overflow tanks
had waterbutt mud gaurds
coach rear seat
but to do that to a perfectly good bike what a waste

I think you've missed the point Juke.

It's not that its a Harley that has gradually evolved into a beat up worn cool bike... That would be a nice bike..

It's not...

It's a bike that someone has spent hours trying to make it look like a worn old bike, beating the ****e out of the frame, exhaust etc. etc. and welding loads of crap on it to make it look cool.. and failing miserably. It's contived..OTT. and quite frankly looks like a bag of ****e.
It's a fake old timer.. and to do that to an old shovel is a bloody disgrace..

And why is it a waste of time to clean your bike?

It aint a waste of time cleaning ya bike mate. Again, wrong words used! Seems to be my trademark that..........
Personally myself, I would rather ride my trike than clean it, but thats just coz i am a lazy bitch!......lol
As for the harley, whether its a fake or not, I must admit I do like the way she looks.
I prefer rat or the 'worn in look' to chrome any day. Again, thats just my personal opinion.
I reckon she probably sounds real nice, and runs like a dream.
Would be a real shame if she ran how she looks.........ruff!

Let's assume then, just for argyment's sake, that this bike cost 46,000 Euros to build, and took seven months.
And it runs, mainly to Dutch shows, where it's sweeping the board of ratbike trophies.
Does it still retain it's street cred, or is it now firmly in there with OCC and West Coast Chopper bling mobikes?
Just wondering like.
