Hold it by the tail, if it's a grass snake it should fall off

is it the same size as a worm? If so, and it has a flat head, then it's a new zealand flat worm and kills off our earth worms and you should inform the ministry of agriculture that you've found one and exactly where you found it

seriously..!

a quick search on google gave me this

so on 2nd thoughts it doesn't look much like yours

but look out for them (all you keen gardeners) cos they are a nasty problem

It is defenately a baby slow worm i can tell by the shape and colour of the skin, they are totaly harmless and are good for the garden. They are more a lizard than a snake or a worm, they just dont have legs, and if you grab it by the tail it will come off, as this is a way of defending itself it caught by a predator. god dont you city folk know anything .................runs and hides. Anyway i think they are cute. I havent seen one for a few years now our cat used to bring them home as well, bloody big ones lol

No problem with the amount of those buggers my cat brings in, I've probably got enough for a handbag and some luggage as well
