Default trike rebuild

Well finally got round to stripping the trike down yesterday, and what a bloody mess, deffo would never have passed MOT let alone been safe to ride.

I must point out that i didnt build the trike originally. All I know is that it was built locally around 10 years ago......

But I'm sure if the buider ever sees her again he wont reckonise it. Am as usual taking pics stage bu stage (before n after) as I start the rebuild and will add my progress n pics onto my website (in the next few days or so) for anyone whos interested...

If anyone knows were i can get bondbug bits from (rear end is from a bond bug) please let me know as all the bushes n spacers are knackered.

Default bond bug

bonbugs are just reliant three wheelers with a different body on them. so i would think that reliant parts would be more easily obtained and considerably cheaper

Hi Creature, If your not sure what to do with the headstock gusseting checkout Blackjacks excellent site if you've not already found it as there are some serious do's and dont's.
Those springers look quite long so are you going to change the headstock rake?
gussets

There's also a conversion for fitting disc brakes to Reliant axles if you wanted to upgrade the brakes but i don't know if Bug axles are the same?
The info was provided by a certain "Manky Monkey" so they could probably advise ;>)
Disc brake conversion

the rakes already been changed - just not happy with work done. considering removing gussetting and redoing myself.

Have looked at the disc brake conversion but not an option at the moment due to no funds avaialable

not much more been done at moment, due to disco bookings and trying to sort mitsy out.

But it appears the back end isnt bondbug, some parts have close similarities to teh bondbug and may indeed be based on it - but looks as if the original builder has copied some parts and adapted........

cheers folks will keep em coming.

Another update 2day

to clear a few questions that have been emailed to me.

Like everything ive done its on a very strict buget. started out at £150.00 (yep thats the budget for the rebuild)

brought rialto for £130.00
full gasket set for £20.00

so the fund tin sits at £00.00

Before I can buy anymore bits that are gonna be needed to complete the trike, i will need to sell the surplus bits from teh rialto. So if your looking for any parts for yours give me a try 1st. You will at least know the monies gonna goto a good cause...

At the moment I have no money for tax, mot, insurance - will sell of any other bits i dont use ar stuff thats lying around in me shed to get that lot together nearer completion time.

so if ya looking for stuff on ebay do a search on "thefatont" thats me .

comments are welcome

Noticed you mentioned Grays in thrapston. I bought a green rialto from him in 2004 for 150 quid which is now my current trike before my xj is finished. Towed it all the way back to essex with my old man steering it!! Need to get my website sorted out again as i have loads of pics of the conversion and of my new build......

Yours looks to be coming on well though, good luck!
