Default slob hath travelled many miles

I have returned had a great time so here's a quick summary of my escapades for those who are interested:

Flew from Heathrow to Kuala Lumpar, stayed overnight then onwards to Melbourne.
We opted to stay in a historical / party suburb called St. Kilda , wall to wall bars and resteraunts against a background of colonial architecture. Great fun, we found an allotment where you have to jazz up your patch in order to grow there, there were mannequins, iron sculptures etc etc very cool.

After 4 days we flew to KL and then Penang. Gorgeous Island , dinner for 4 costs on average 2 we rented a driver with a people carrier for eight hours 4 50 he took us all round the island and showed us a few things off the beaten track.

After 4 days we headed off to the mainland, 2 hour drive to an orangutan sanctuary and water park that is not advertised to tourists cost 60 and the driver waited all day and drove us an additional hour to our hotel all for 60.

At the sanctuary we fed squirrel monkeys by hand and I wrestled a bearcat (9 month old and it ripped me to shreds ) there was nobody there! the staff took so much time with us it was like a personalised tour. The orangutans are on an island and we were in the cage ! it was very humbling to see them in their own environment.

The hotel was a dive and the town (tai ping ( no there weren't any secretaries there) was a dead town, years ago it was the hub of malaysia but now there's nothing there... other than maxwell hill .... hill? phucking mountain, we took the tour.......

63 s bends to the top, the camber on each bend was about 3.5 foot at an acute angle, you are on the edge of the mountain all the way up and there are no guard rails, the road is 9K and takes you 1039Metres up! Our driver was a complete Psycho and threw the landrover around like it was a bloody dodgem, at the half way mark I buried my head , watching the nose of the 4x4 swing over the precipice was too much.. I wasn't worried about if we fell but when! when we got to the top the cloud obscured the view I opted to walk back down the jungle road. it was the highlight, wild monkeys, giant bugs, fresh waterfalls to refresh myself in , birds and loads of noise (jungles are bloody noisy).

I walked 5K and decided to try and beat the landy back down so I ran the other 4K. great fun but couldn't walk properly for 3 days afterwards *LOL.

we had a meal out that night at thr swankiest resteraunt in town, my wife was serenaded on a grand piano by the owner as it was her birthday and the meal for 6 of us (3 courses each ) came to 15! and it was a smart venue.

back to KL for the last 3 days up the KL tower for a view of the city (twin towers were closed for the day) that was great, went to the indian sector for food and it was possibly the most beautiful meal I have ever eaten. we chanced upon a driver who offered to take us to an elephant sanctuary on our last day, again not advertised anywhere. There were only 20 people there and we fed, washed and played with the elephants in a river it was a ball. The driver then took us to an indidginous village where the men hunt with blow pipes, they are protected and are the only people allowed to gather flora and fauna from the rainforest, that was great and possibly something we won't see again in a hurry.

then we left

Back home with a stinking dose of jet-lag missed my first day back cos I got my dates mixed up, went in Friday to find I had got a promotion I have been after for ages ... all in all a fucking great time!

Looks like it really IS just a welsh myth Fred. You probably shouldn't have tried to blend in with the locals that way. An' the poor sheep'll never be the same again
