Default one of those fooking days!!!!

well after hours of labour and stress i finally finished me tank.
today i fitted me carbs back on ,mounted the tank ,put it all back together.
and all that was left was to put some fuel on the tank(big cheesy grin at this point)
then it happens,i spilt petrol on the tank and just watched the topcoat melt before my very eyes....... feck feck feck

i have only had that problem when it wasnt cured, but if it has had 7 coats....did you let each coat cure or did you wait for the surface to be 'finger' dry and then re-coat, if so, that might be a problem....i always cur mine back and polish after i have finished and that gives a bit more protection
