Mates mother in law works for a company who make molecular filters - they can filter out anything of than hydrogen if they want to. Seriously high tech.

Abbs & JohnR the Large brains :- Blah. yaddi, yaddi, blah ?????????????????????????? blah blah
anyhoo flask this morning is definately expanded-but more in an overall basis-outwards in a balloon fashion, but I did fill up to brim & stick in freezer. It was knelt on by the looks of it, and this included the bottom edge squashed, which has not come out
Photos tonight

JohnR, Abbs, please carry on

Water is almost incompressible, though it can actually be compressed. At a tremendous pressure of 1000 kg per square centimeter (which isn't strictly a pressure, but is listed that way in Smithsonian Physical Tables) water compresses by only 2.5% at 50 degrees C.

I read a 'tip' from someone on getting dent out of fuel tank which was, heat with hair dryer fro 5 mins. then blast with some kind dry ice stuff that pumbers use and the dent pops out.

It might also work on your flask. if it does let us know then we can try it on a tank i've got with a ding in it.

anyone ever done something like this before ?

By the way the dent is just a rounded squash of the outside of the curved flask it is not a creased dent if you know what i mean.
Come on, I'm dying of suspense, what happened to the flask, what advice did you take, and did it work... John

Possible, yes. More doable than reducing matter to absolute zero.

No i am not.
People with out real experince know the theory.
They don't know the real thing, how to get a test done with a client screaming at you,a day when the sun is coming and going and pushing the pressure up,no spools of the same spec to bulk the test out with after no sleep for 18 hours.
I know,i have been there.
Send them off to the canteen and get the job done.

Fortunately, the engineers on the Manhattan Project didn't share your view point. I can imagine it now..........

I want to edit my last post
freezing it didn't make that much difference when I do the before & after photos-maybe a slight difference in the front dent, but nothing earth shattering

no, sorry I didn't take any scientific measurements to be sure
