Default Pc experts help needed, very desperate

I have lost from the PC the first three chapters of the new book.
Around 20,000 words.
I have no idea how, last thing I deleted was some duplicate photos.
Have done a system restore and a search but still nothing.
I believe that it is impossible to completely delete a file from the hard drive.
Can anyone tell me how to search for the file, it represents a huge amount of work so any help would be greatly appreciated

you have done the worst thing by doing a system restore! making it very difficult now to retrieve thet mmissing file.

If you had deleted the file it should have been in your rubbish bin or what ever they call it in winjows

u could try looking at some of these - http://www.google.co.uk/search?clien...BMmu0QWNm4CIBQ

but they will need to be installed on a different harddrive - or maybe a large memory stick.

either way your success rate since you don a restore is probally 20% at best

If you are writing a book on word it will drop whole chapters..word just doesn't store enough for a book..

The best way is to write just one chapter and save it before moving on to the next chapter, back up each chapter on an SD drive or somewhere off line.

Have to agree the system restore was not the thing to do!

No data is ever lost, its just over written, if you can catch it in time you can recover it... But it is a bugger to retrieve!

What OS are you running?

There are programs about that you can download to recover deleted stuff. Most are paid for, but you get some time as a "trial".

Wirth a shot.
