Default Back to the drawing board..................

After years of waiting, and finally getting a good garage, a few mates to help, and a little cash to spend, the rebuild of The Juke has finally got underway.
All was going well as the Boatman and Griff tinker away at her tirelessly. They are presently making a pair of very scary and somewhat 'ponsey' looking rear mudguards that have this 'stealth' thing going on. I am not convinced me and The Juke want this look at all, but as Griff has been badgering me about this idea for the past 9 years, I have relented and given him the benefit of the doubt.I really aint convinced I am gonna like them though. I aint into 'trick', showy bits but I will give it a go.

I really want 'square' handlebars, as just about everything on The Juke is angular,so after much hunting, we found someone to make some square risers and bars for me. Result me thinks...................
Only to find out this morning, they will cost 300quid to make!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

300quid for a set of bars and risers??????? I wasnt planning on spending that much on the whole rebuild! Ya see, me and The juke, aint into 'new' and I know there will be peeps on here who will say I am living in a dream world, but 'nice' aint me. I just wanna ride her for fcuks sake!

So, the project rolls on....................

My real headache is the wiring loom. The loom (well if thats what you call it!) she has at the mo is a bloody joke. Can anyone on here help me with a new diagram at all. I aint really in the know on anything 'bike' which I know some peeps will find amusing, but I am so desperate to get her up and running, I am now getting a little impatient..............

Any help or ideas would be gratefully appreciated................

I dont know if its taking the piss mate, I just know right now I can't afford £300 for anything. The guy is a top engineer, but well out of my range.....
Your idea sounds much more up my street.........

Do what I do. A list of what you NEED then a list of the things you would like. Source the parts / cost the work - then set to.

Jester's in the thick of the GSX rebuild at the moment and it can get quite overwhelming - especially when there is so much choice. Do I go use the bars I've got? Buy fighter risers and use aftermarket bars? Get custom bars made? ... etc etc etc At least try and enjoying spending your dollars.

What was the bike originally? What are you trying to build? And remember to start the fecker before you spend money on it. Nothing worse than chucking a wedge at a pile of spares that will never go anywhere under its own steam.

And if you dont know anything about bikes, now is a good time to learn.

Good advice Minxy. The parts I need/want are all there really. I dont want trick bits on The Juke. She aint that kind of trike. Rough and ready is what I like best. And she is certainly rough, just not too ready........lol

The bike was originally an FJ1200, and the trike is already built, we just have to put her back together. This is proving a bit of a prob as we are coming up against the usual probs..........bits missing where peeps have taken her apart, and lost the bits to put her back tgether again. We will get there in the end. As for not going anywhere under her own steam?...well she aint never had that prob, as the motor is the best part of her...............

I am learning more every day.....believe me!!!!!!!!
