Default The elves and the shoemaker

Told this one to my grandaughter..

Once upon a time there was a poor shoemaker, who because of supermarkets and Chinese imports was going broke.

One day he got his last bit of leather and cut out a pair of shoes, then he went to bed..When he got up in the morning the shoes were all finished and they looked pretty dam good..so he called his wife and said did you make these darling..she replied "don't talk so daft, I'm a merchant banker, I can't make shoes" so he put them in the window and sold them, with the money he bought enough leather to make four pairs of shoes which he cut out and left on the bench..this time he hid in a cupboard to watch who made the shoes..At midnight the doors flew open, but from where he was hiding he couldn't quite see who was there..so he leapt out of the cupboard and got eaten by a dragon..

The elves?

Well they cleaned up after the dragon so that the shoemakers wife would think he had run off with the barmaid at the Red Lion..

John.
