Default Kawasaki Z1000 ST electrics question

I've got this old ST sitting outside me 'ouse that I want to do summat with, summat that involves chopping the seat rails and subframe an' that. I want to relocate the battery somewhere and so I'm thinking of changing the stock battery for one o' them smaller gel-filled ones that you don't have to mount upright.

Thing is, STs appear to need a bigger battery than the rest of the Zed range, and I don't know if any of the gel-filled batteries are going to be man enough to turn the old (and big bored and therefore higher compression) lump over.

Any ideas or recommendations?

Is it? Right, hmm, the ST battery is quite big itself (physically), but if it could be turned through 90 degrees and hung from the upper rail, it'd be less obtrusive. How big is yer BM one dimensionswise?

dont beleive they do mate, I used to run the redtop and yellow top etc batteries in car audio setups, never had any problems

dont have to be gel ones to be laid on any angle I dont think, I have a sealed lead acid battery in one of my bikes, thats laid on its side, never had a problem with that

look under the seat of things like GSXR etc and they all laid down at 45 degrees anyway

Got an R1 gel battery ready to run my old GSX11, not as big as a zed battery (or at least not the 13s) but the gel job is up to it. The battery on Jester's CBR is mounted on its side in a wee shelf built into the one off sub that takes the race seat unit. Good alternative.
