Default Petrol stabiliser additive.

Having heard from other bikers who've had fuel go off or collect moisture thanks to the ethanol content, I am going to buy some stabiliser additive.
Seeing as the tank is de-rusted and fully plumbed in, its time to get some juice in it.

Does anyone use petrol stabiliser over winter?

Cant say i have ever had a problem, often leave a can of petrol, the mower and strimmer over winter, this year the bike, so i guess we will see come next year, have left cars and bikes for month with no ill effects.

I only ever had problems with old fuel in the fuel injected bikes I've had.
Especially the cheap fuel from supermarkets.

I put new petrol in the lawn mower every year.
I run it almost empty in late summer and then leave it till spring and put new petrol in it.
Never fails to start.

Mine and the missus usually sit for 3-4 months or so and never had a problem, hers and the GS1000 gets a dose of that Lucas petrol cleaner stuff when its time to go back out. But I run the GS on posh petrol from BP/shell stations.

The ZZR, I just go and start every now and again, it gets posh stuff for a few outings when its time.

Never had any bother.

I have left one of mine for over a year and had no issues, started first time (with jump leads) no nasty fumes out of the back neither.

I had a half tank of supermarket petrol lying in the Busa tank for about 2 months and was due a ride out with a mate. When he came round my garage on his gsxr I got the Busa out and fired it up to warm up for a couple of minutes but it struggled to fire up. When it did eventually fire up it sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders... as rough as a bears behind. Not what you expect from a super smooth missile.
It was struggling to hold any tickover.
So me mate Carl who had got off his bike and rolled a ciggie by now asked me what fuel was in it,? He said its probably gone off and then asked me how old the fuel was? He said that'll be it then, the fuels gone off. What he recommended was taking the bike and filling the tank with full fat Shell UL.
I was like nahhhh don't talk bollox. But he kept on at me to get it up the Shell station and fill it up.
Otherwise we weren't going out to play.
So I listened to him finally and rode through town with the big beastie sounding like a tractor. Rough as fook. While I'm wondering how much more damage I could be doing to the engine riding it like this?
Anyway we got to the Shell station and I brimmed the tank with top posh best supersupreme UL.
Now try it says Carl.
Bugger me it fired instantly and ran sweet as a nut and I'm left thinking WTF????
Didn't miss a beat again and was back to super-smooth.

So I took his word as a given and although it was never as bad again, I have had old fuel in the tank cause the bike not to run well until fresh petrol was added.
Likewise I never had any issue before with petrol left in the tank for months.
But bear in mind that Busa was very new ie: less than 1 year old, so there was no rust or sediment in the tank.
