Default Wiring issue, + earth and LEDs ??

OK run into a problem, should know better than to buy things without thinking it through, bought a nice LED rear light/brake light, trouble is the bike has a + earth system because of the Lucas Rita electronic ignition.....

Of course LEDs will only flow current from - to + so i either cant use it or i somehow have to integrate a reverse polarity into the rear light/brake light circuit...any ideas?

I've got a Boyer fitted and I know that will work either way but I'm not sure on the Lucas system, I've heard they're a real pain in the hoop to work on...

Have a look here as these may shed some light: http://www.britishonly.com/tech/tips/lucas.asp

If you can't reverse the polarity on the light you should be able to run it through a couple of relays but that would add more wiring and would not be the best option.

Thanks to this site
http://www.britishcycle.com/Manuals/...taNegative.htm

It seems that you can quite simply reverse the polarity, mind you i made the mistake of asking on a US based British bike forum....talk about full off pedants who cant give a straightforward answer to a question, and so full of their on self importance and knowledge ...FFS!

The yanks can be hard work at times but remember they saved, and continue to do so, the world...

I wouldn't mind but there are Brits on there with the same attitude, it was a bit like asking what is a potato and then getting the origins, its chemical makeup and nutritional value

Well after finishing the wiring last night, the RITA system seems to function as it should under non start test, IE it fires the plugs when ignition switch is turned on and off...good job i decided not to listen to the pedants
