Default 650 gearbox parts

Hi. I have recently entered a mid life crisis and bought an xs650. my first bike as a teenager.

Its an american import and after having an exhaust made and fitting a new clutch I now find it sometimes dosent go into gear or jumps out. Everything looked good when the clutch was fitted so it looks like a strip down.

It could be many things but my problem is... once the engine is out and stripped, I may find a broken gear or damaged selector but where can I get the parts. Its pointless starting if I cant finnish.

Im in nottingham uk and dont know of anywhere who may have a selection of gearbox parts.

Does anyone have any ideas because the bike is so close to finnishing I dont want to pull the plug now.

The bike has a pma, forks reworked etc and this issue has come up just when I thought I was on the home straight.

If anyone has a spare engine or can rework mine I would be happy to talk.

I'm no mechanic, so I am the last person to ask advise but my advise would be to buy a replacement engine and gearbox possibly. Might be cheaper and quicker in the long run.
