Default unwanted 35mm film cameras wanted

howya all. Am here in Cork Ireland and just started an arts course. we are at the moment learning film photography as one module on the course. Well Ive fallen in love with it. was wondering if anybody had any old slr 35mm cameras tucked away, or even thrown in a drawer they would be willing to get rid of. Cheap or free preffered. sorry for being cheeky but Im now a poor impoverished student at 59 years of age.*

I'll have a look, I think I still have an old Chinon gathering dust..

Chinon were Dixons' own brand back in the 80's

Never mind 35mm, I've got a very old Kodak VPK Autographic. It takes 127 film if I remember correctly - you can still get it if you pay a fortune but I don't really want to use it. What you can't get is the autographic film - the camera has a little window you can slide back, and stylus for writing with - you could write what and where the photo was, so that it appeared on the photo!

I wouldn't part with it anyway - my dad was a rating on the Naval ship that took the then Duke & Duchess of York (later King & Queen, the old Queen Mum that dies a few years ago) on a round the world trip in 1920-something - he bought the camera in India I think, and I have some of the first photos he took with it of Elephants in the timber yards in Rangoon.

A little bit of family history.

The camera's not worth much anyway, to anyone else.

that has too much history behind it to be in anybody elses hands. its nice to have something like that. my father had a few old pics at home that he gave me lately. one of them was my great grandfather driving a horse drawn hearse through the town. love it. sense of continuity or something.
