Default Trike regs

Hi every one I'm looking for a bit of info if any one can help. I'm looking to put wider wheels on my trike this involves doing away with mudguards (to get the look I'm after) just wanted to know the rules on forward facing marker lights.
Do I need them or not? Thanks in advance Andy

The MSVA manual section on lighting is based on the uk lighting regs.

https://www.gov.uk/government/public...pection-manual

The lighting to the front depends on the width of the trike.

Personally it scares me witless riding a trike in the dark when the oncoming traffic can't see how wide you are.

As to mudguards they come under construction and use regs which say you need them, but they aint part of the MOT or MSVA.

Many things appear in one set of regs and not in the others, daft innit.

I was always led to belive that rear fenders were a must legaly, and that forward facing markers to advertise the width of the rear was also a must.
Ive had to alter my plans on the HUC trike ime doing to go with this information.
I will be watching this thread with anticipation. lol.

As I said above rear mudguards are a requirement under British Construction and Use Regulations.

lighting depends on the width of the vehicle as per UK lighting regs.

I don't know what rules the yanks have for their fenders
