Default Inspiration

thought it would be interesting for people to post pics of their favourite bikes over the years, ones that inspired you to get in to bikes for whatever reasons or ones that were posters on walls as youths..

kicking off with mine...

Yo Daddeo by Phil Piper, I like a lot of his bikes but the lines and frame of this I think are perfect

This...

When I was about 14 playing at my mates house, his elder brother rode home on one of these, brand new.

The sound of it pulling into the close, the ticking sound it made when he switched it off and that very distinctive smell, had me hooked there and then.

My Grandad rode from Nottingham to us in Taunton on this bike.

I don't think it won any prizes but it won me over to bikes.

One of the pictures I regretted getting was Ron Brierly's Norton Commando and Triumph Bonneville, both kitted for racing.

Ron used to race them, he also had a motorbike shop in Bury where he always had the bikes on display and I used to lick the windows every day on my way home from school.

My uncle Bert who was in the navy during the war and bought a 650 Triumph with his demob money. He used to come over and visit on his bike and take us kids round the block on the pillion. I also bought an 650 Ariel Huntmaster combo from my uncle Stan back in the days when you could ride it on L plates. Happy days........
