They seem to fuck up all the time, other people just don't like them could be down to crap BMW electrics but i'm glad it's not fitted to mine.

I seem to remember the police stopped using ABS fitted bikes a few years ago [dont quote me on that i'm not 100% sure]

A mate of mine rang Motoworks [BMW specialist] to order one of their kits to remove the ABS and was told they are selling 20+ kits a week

Don't know about other makes but i wouldn't take a chance

why would you want to - i have an xjr1300 and all the ones with blue spot calippers stop plenty fast enough - i suppose you could try and find a different Yam with the same calipers - how about an FZ-6 that has an ABS option but i don't know how similar the callipers are .

Everything is possible it just depends whether the price is worth it (in hassle and money)

Default Abs

Never liked abs on a 44 ton truck, let alone a motorbike. Bloody sensors were always going on the trailers, and had to change the two rear sensors on my Citroen Xantia TD. Bloody expensive and not necessary.

ABS cannot shorten stopping distances.

True, but when you're leaning to the max and need to grab a handfull of brake, or even need to stamp on the pedal in an arse clencher, then you tend to change your opinion of abs pretty damm quick.

I know i did.

Anyway, I can just turn it off with the push of a button on my 1200GS

Oh I've got nothing against ABS, it's usually bloody good, but the myths need to be exposed.

I'd be quite happy to have it on me bike.
