Exclamation Knew I'd finally get round to it!

Hello everyone! I am 'old' to bikes but new to computers & am still struggling to get to grips with Mr. Gates infernal contraption. Despite posessing keypad skills that would embarrass a chimpanzee, I one day hope to produce something that is witty, informative and thought provoking (or even coherent!).

Thumbs up

Hi to Shep & Friar Tuck, thanks for being my first replies.I'm over by Faringdon, but belonged to an Abingdon club in the Eighties. We used to hold an annual rally at Drayton over August Bank Holiday, back in the days when a four day event was rare and 500 was considered large!

The one I remember is meeting monthly at Sturdy's Castle, and the yearly classic bike meet at a village near Tubney Woods way?

There was a chap I used to work with had a Norvin with a comete engine. It was named the Comdom! Lovely machine it was as well. Sadly I had an SR500 back then! That went in Favour of an XBR500, which made way for FZS600S! Then I moved over here to Naarfuck!

The meets at Sturdy's Castle ended years ago. The police harassed the Landlord after they'd been harassed by locals over the antics of street - racers. I think they moved down to Fox's Diner near Berinsfield. Can't remember any classic meets at Tubney, though there is one at Cassington off the A40 towards the end of June.

Fox's Diner is now H Cafe with bike meets on Monday. (Soon)
Cassington was cancelled because of authoritarian obstruction, though some hardy souls still held their own meet.

Cassington! That's the one! It's been nine years since we moved to here! Blimey, it's flown by!

Pity about Cassington, but pehaps not surprising. I last went there two years ago , and although it was very a very laid back atmosphere, it was heaving with bodies - just the sort of thing to rattle those who regard any large gathering of us as a riot waiting to happen! Similar narrow mindedness stopped the Fred Hill run entering the centre of Oxford last year, as apparently it would 'disturb' the students (as if being a bunch of inbred junkie twats wasn't 'disturbed' enough!).
