The Vincent HRD Owners have a good supply of spares through their own Spares outlet. http://www.vincentspares.co.uk/

When i were a young shaver, back in 1982, I heard rumours of an old farmer who had some classic british motorcycles rusting away in a barn.
I went up there and found a rocket Goldstar and a Vincent Comet covered in rust and bird shit.

Farmer wasn't in, so I waited till he came home with mounting excitement.

When the old boy turned up, all patches, moleskin and flat hat I asked him if her wanted to sell them, and he said yes.

I asked him how much.

"Foive tharsand pound" he said.

"Each"

In all honesty and piss takes aside, the vincent owners club is a good place to start. Was I going mad / daydreaming or aren't Vincent engines being made by someone (in France?) for 10,000 or so? Might be the makings of a replica / tribute in there if you have deep pocketts. I wish there were a few of those bikes around but they are seen as investments by people who probably won't even ever use them.

I reckon most of the Vincent Owners Club members will actually ride their bikes on sunny summer days with a big fuckoff grin on their mush.

They're known for having more members who ride their bikes than most classic owners' clubs, and supposedly aren't as barmy as most when it comes to originality.

Not suprising when your probably looking at squillions for genuine spares!

theres a guy in australia making brand new vincent engines for the classic and racing scene with capacities of upto 1600cc and power outputs in excess of 160bhp, he is also manufacturing complete machines, but tbh as nice as they are, if i were to buy a vincent, part of the reason for that purchase would eb the history behind the bike, these, though nice, are just new bikes.

Chris Knibb's Vincent in a home-made Egli Frame. 2002.
Chris really is a good fabricator and our loss is New Zealand's gain.

.or you could just find something like this
Sitting in a basement for 30 yrs and I swapped them for a yammy it175.
The blue one is a 1970 royal star 500
and the red one is a 71 650 lightning.
Cleaned the points and carb on the 500 and put new plugs in and it runs like a top.

Hopefully the person that asked me this question in the first place is slowly starting to realise that the only black shadow he'll be seeing is the one that's attached to him when the sun's out

Ain`t there one featured in this weeks MCN?
seems its going for auction at the stafford show. A mere 750,000 miles on the clock. the Guy regularly rode it to Greece & back at least 25 times. Estimated auction price is around 35,000.

There are at least 2 vinnies I`m aware of in the district, but theres zero chance of getting the old git(s) to part with em.

George Pollard used to have several BS`s at his garage at Clarance Street dinnington (sheffield), along with dozens of rare old brit iron that he used to restore, and was exporting em to the Japs, Yanks etc. The place was like a vintage motorcycle museum.
But AFAIK he cashed in, at the hight of the vintage boom a few years ago, and the place is slightly bare. But knowing george I suspect that he may have various bikes stashed elsewhere.

**Everyone tends to avoid going to the garage for MOT`s etc when george is around coz he`s reputation for being a miserable old cnut. they wait while hes gone for lunch & out the way before going for MOT.
George would MOT & fail a brand new bike just because it ain`t british.
Taff may be able to tell a tale or two about George, as every bike within 20-40 miles of his place seems to know him

There's one on ebay at the mo, think its up to 40k plus! I was at Mallory the weekend for the 1st EMRA meet of the season and on me way back down the M1 to the smoke passed a Vinny, sure it was a shadow, that was in sore need of renovation. Every time it went over a bump it missfired too! My lad of 21 asked me what it was, and when i told him a vincent he said follow him dad and make him an offer for it! lol.

Update, the one on ebay bidding ended at 40,675.00 and reserve not met. fekin cheapskates! pmsl
