everytghing will swap even teh engines have the same mount s- the 250 was sleeved down 400 hence why it was so over engineered

nearly everything but the 400 is twin disk at the front (that would mean forks have extra mount for caliper on a 400 etc and I'd treat 250 and 400 engines / carbs as seperate entities to swap as complete units. Other than that pretty much the same I think.

Seats and rear plastic slightly different between standard and deluxe as well so any standard rack does not fit a deluxe. Only other difference is that early ones had kick and electric whilst the later ones had electric only.

All tanks take either a left or right handed key - the pattern on them does not matter so if you get a spare/replacement tank don't muck around trying to change the lock barrel. Bottom back left of tank can rot through from inside to out - look for telltale yellowinsh stain under paint. Seats split all the time.
Standard 2-1-2 exhaust rots away at balance box most will have a motad 2-1 fitted.

Also if you lose key take off headlight locate white 6 way connector split and jump centre 2 pins - it will not work exactly as if you had put the key in and turned it on.

Another BIG suggestion - if it has the OE sump plug/oil filter centre replace with an after market one - the originals have a 12mm head which WILL round off and the replacements are 14mm or even 17mm
