Question Trike on a car license

Hi
Having been out of the "scene" for 20 odd years Im looking to get back into it and am looking at getting a trike, a, because theyr'e rarer than hens teeth down this way and I like to be differant, b, I don't have a bike licence (It didn't stop me as a youngster but Im a bit more sensible now) c, MRS suffers with arthritis and is worried she'll drop a bike.

Can I drive a trike on a car licence? Ive got A and Gh on my provisional entitlement. Ive looked on the DVLA website but am totally confused now!

Have you got an older licence? B1 on it by any chance? Most trikes as far as I know are b1 category, bit of a bastard for new bike licence holders I think older car licences allow / include trikes - bike licences on trikes is the difficult way round. Worth looking at sidecars if you feel the need to be different but you'd need a bike licence for that I'd geuss. A lot depends on when you passed your test....

Hi
I passed my car test in '94. My photo ID license is devoid of B1, does this mean Ill have to pass a bike test (and cbt) too?

Nope ask DVLA to put it back on, you can then ride a trike

It's just classed as Cat B now, full license, no more B1 as of '95 IIRC.

Cat A is bike
Cat G is road roller
Cat H is tracked

Sorry for being thick, but does this mean I CAN drive a trike on B classification with a car licence? Been looking around and we both like the look of the VW engined trikes but don't want to commit untill we really sure about the licence thing. Its like this, we can get a trike, or do our DAS course but not both at the mo!
Would really hate to have a shiney Trike on the drive and not be able to use it (and knowing me Id drive it, get tugged, end up in court!)
