Default Scrawny Dawns Cheer up ride out.

Recently a friend of ours Dawn had a major RTA on the M5/M4 junction on her Harley, an old chap was traveling the wrong way along the M5 from the severn bridge and hit her head on, resulting in the amputation of her lower right leg. Well a few of us organized a ride through the hospital grounds to show our support and to cheer her up.

She was wheeled out side (for the first time since her accident) and the run was a fantastic success, we marshaled the run in a proper manner and some where in the region of 100 bikes rode past her ward in a sedate and respectful manner being where we were n all. It was all received in brilliant fashion and had her in tears.

Here are some pics i took, in between marshaling, of how its done in Bristol, i have also added some video footage, but due to its size it may take an age to load, but it seems to depend on what time of day you view it.

This was our run leader..

I'm so sorry to hear about you'r friend I hope the road to recovery is quick & smooth,

I'm a below knee amputee myself if she needs to talk to someone about what to expect or just to let off steam or anything at all please feel free to give me a shout & I'll PM my mobile numer & email.

let her know she will still be able to ride --- I still still ride a CBR1000F with a thumb brake conversion.

my best wishes & prayers to Dawn.

I was about to suggest speaking to Ernie... but would we inflict that on the poor girl! She may have had enough trauma

My mother was a double amputee. It was very hard at first but perseverance paid off and she was fine with it in the end,as much as can be expected. It affects all people in different ways,so I'm sure the ride through/past did her a world of good as far as raising the spirits is concerned. Good on you for that and, even though I don't know her, send her my best wishes.
