Question American VHS format to UK format

Dose anyone know how I can change the format of video tapes OR do any of you know someone who can?

I've got some woodcarving video's that my late Dad bought me while he was in the US. I never had the heart to tell him that they didn't play very well on my VHS player.

Since he died I've been trying to get the tapes to play so that I can copy them onto UK format tapes.. But no such luck!

Look in your video manual.Should be able to change regions. However, some can't do it

Ehhh did i misread.........wasn't it VHS not dvd that was topic of conversation.

a majority of vhs decks made in the latter years of the format play both 625 and 525 standards without any trouble, the servo's handle it with ease. also a number of teles with analogue inputs cope well (the vcr usually gives out a pseudo pal and the tele finishes the conversion of the colour part of the signal), VHS hasn't got any region locking..its usually either 625 or 525 (we wont mention secam..oops just did), you may find the tapes have macrovision or similar which supposedly prevents copying, a decent TBC or bug buster box will erase this put new syncs in and voila copy away, best to stick it on DVD or some compressed video data format for storage

I have a VCR someplace that plays NTSC. If you get stuck, give me a shout. All you need is a PC or a Mac that can digitize video.
