Default Big Rallies

Have done both the RnB and Bulldog. 10 years ago the RnB still felt like a bike rally but over the last 4 years or so it has become nothing more than a music festival with a bike show tagged on to the side.

Last time I went to the RnB I was constantly hearing chavs talking about being pissed off with bikers and how groups of chavs wanted to single out bikers and kick their heads in. I have absolutely no desire to ever do RnB ever again even though my partners still keen on it cos she's been going for years and has lots of memories from it.

Bulldog however is a different kettle of fish as the drag strip side of things and not being able to camp next to your car means you get more biker orientated crowds there. Did Bulldog last year and loved it and would redilly go to this years one. I'll not shed a tear however if RnB is cancelled cos its just not my cup of tea anymore and thats due to the punters more than anything.

Obviously whoever sanctioned Mr Tobins execution last year didn't for one iota consider the future implications but then some of the 1% clubs are not renowned as great thinkers

Me and my lad were hoping to go the Bulldog this year and he would be going on his own wheels this time so it would be great for him to be more of a part of it. He's 16 now and as we live live quite near he want's go on his 'ped'.

It would be interesting to see if other high profile events get cancelled as well, such as Glastonbury and the Global Gathering using public safety as a reason.

Yeah right... They wouldn't even try cancelling Glastonbury if everyone died in the WWI conditions the year before...

brilliant that.
Thats why I was hoping to say hello and buy ya a beer at the BB.
Otherwise I'm off around the emerald isle and ol' blighty on me old trumpet before moseying back stateside.
For what it's worth I rode my Triumph from massachusetts to Alaska and back last summer and had the chance to stop in Sturgis and hang out wth some mates and the best time was had when we all fooked off on our own into the wilds and had the craic with no-one to bother us.

So being as they've withdrawn the application themselves, presumably that means that they'll refund for pre-paid tickets

Don't believe all you read in the press mate.
Think it maybe a case of them, like others, being tols they WILL NOT BE ALLOWED to hold the event, and to save face they have said that they themselves have decided to withdraw the show.
I do understand the problems the bigger clubs have, but it pulls my goat that the law are now telling the biker community where, when and how they can put on shows...................

I have attended both R & Bs and the Bulldog for the past 15 years or so. My daughter has been since she was 5 years old and is now nearly 17. I am gutted that both of these are now gone, because once they are stopped one year we know that the chances of them starting up again are slight? Stonehenge festival anyone? Stonehenge was stopped and Glastonbury turned into a parody of what it was (so haven't been since 1984).
So pissed off!

FFS, 'both of these' have not gone. Unless you know something about the Bulldog I don't?

stonehenge has been on for ages! Ever since our lovely government reallowed pikies and the lower end of the travelling spectrum [who like to use the stones as a playground for their kiddies ] access to the stones for midsummer [wrong time of year btw] along with Arthur Pendragon's lot.

I was in Stratford on Avon yesterday and all the local folk are expecting the Bash to be on and are looking forward to it. It is advertised as one the Towns annual attractions. Stratford has suffered some tourism loss due - dare I mention, bad weather - in Spring - and major re-hash works to the main area by the canal and theatre and folks are not happy.

Was chatting to a bloke who was from the Tourist Board, who is also a Councillor and he was quite emphatic that they will fight tooth and nail to make sure it goes ahead. He said that as far as they are concerned, there has never been any trouble in the Town from people visiting the Bash and he only had good things to say about the advantages of the event from the Town's perspective.

From the BBC.

No where does it say it has been canclled.

The Warwickshire force said its objections were "in the interests of protecting the public from harm".

The licence application for the Bulldog Bash is due to be heard by Stratford-on-Avon District Council in a fortnight.

Warwickshire Police said it had given "detailed submissions" to the council.

The police statement added its objections to a licence being granted were "based on the firm belief that by permitting the Bulldog Bash to take place the public safety and crime and disorder licensing objectives will not be met."

Letting thousands of people have a one night party isn't the same as the 3-4 week festival that used to go on prior to 1985.
Decision about the Bulldog has been adjourned until tomorrow.

Has it changed since that was brought to people's attention on at least two other threads, or did you just want to bring this thread to the top again?
