Default Amazon Heart - spread the word!!!

Have been accepted to ride 1000 miles from Los angels to San Francisco on a Harley Davison to raise funds for a charity called Amazon Heart. Amazon Heart works to support young survivors of Breast cancer. Last year 8000 British women under the age of 50 were treated for breast cancer. I was one of them. Young survivors tend to have greater financial and emotional pressures - mortages to pay, children to raise, Amazon Heart helps cancer survivors deal with these extra pressures. Last year Amazon Heart spent 22,000 in the UK helping women deal with the fall out from this disease.

Please visit my site, donate if you can and spread the word!!

Thanks for your time

I've done it a couple of times and it's further than that - about 380 miles.

I'm a bit puzzled about this charity. I registered to take part in the UK run, on my own bike and I dont need a jacket, and they want 30 to register. I was a bit shocked to be honest. Would rather give the 30 to the charity itself. can you throw any light on it.

cheers

Good for you girl!!!

I understand that the run this year is just around the Cotswolds. As to the 30 registration all charities have costs to cover - insurance and stuff. I do know that Amazon Heart UK raised and spent 22,000 in the Uk last year - half of that was donated directly to Breast Cancer Care, the other half was spent providing peer and financial support to younger breast cancer survivors. 30 years ago survival rates for women with breast cancer was only 20%, today 80% of us can expect to survive 10 years - for younger women in particular living with a diagnosis can be really tricky - I will never get a mortgage, or life insurance. For women with young children to support the struggle is even harder. Look at the 30 as a donation to a good cause then go ahead and enjoy your adventure - Might see you there when I get back from the US.
