'S an 883 --- get the 1200 conversion done on it... mind you, going any quicker with just the single front disc may be an exercise in terror.

Very odd! Must be a Harley Davidson thing. From the left it has a solo seat, but from the right it appears to have a dual seat with pillion backrest! Or are my new tablets making me hallucinate? (God, I hope so, can't stand much more real life crap!!!)

Thats ok..they are supposed to do that...read the owners manual...it says tighten each bolt before riding as part of the daily maintenance..John

I got this off http://www.hdtalking.com

I see you started this thread months ago........I had a '01 XLH 883 and loved it. Paid $5400 new and after 2 years and 36,000 miles the transmission case came apart....Harley of course replaced it (took almost 4 months) at which point I traded it in on a new Roadglide....big mistake, I should have kept the Sporty and just added the Roadglide to my corral. Since then I have purchased an 1990 Sporty that I spend more time working on than riding. Since you are new to Harleys....the first thing your gonna wanna do is buy a large magnet and attatch it to the back of your new bike.....this way you can catch all the parts that will vibrate off and you can reinstall them at the next gas stop Special Note: Insurance on the 883 will be less than the 1200 and down the road if you wanna put the 1200 upgrade in its not that big a deal and since its titled as an 883 you get to keep the cheap insurance.

Smile Sporties.

A very underestimated bike. I used to have an early Evo 1200 Sportster and loved it. I traded it in for a Shovel which I also love, but I really do miss the Sporty. Very enjoyable ride, lots of grunt and with the after market brakes and shox it handled and stopped very well.

Good luck with your new bike, hope you enjoy it.

Chopper.

Nothing wrong with the sporty mate first rate bike, had a 2003 model 883 and it never missed a beat and it was riden all year round, put 17000 on the clock in 2 two years and nothing fell off.
If your getting 110 thats pretty good going, they viberate too much after that
